Doing its best imitation of an angry orchid, this table topper at a Tampa restaurant didn't inspire much fear with those filament teeth. Nikon S7c. Point. Shoot. Done.
The little underhighway tunnel spat us out into woods i would have expected from a somewhat rural suburb. There was a clearing that sort of reminded me of areas near Walden Pond. Except for the ginormous bridge right there.
Machine that diffuses light at different brightnesses using layers of tracing paper and a manual hand crank mechanism.

We had just gotten back from tennis, and I wanted to continue my exploration with the diffusion panel that I started in the beginning of the week, and the sun was just beginning to go behind the trees, so I grabbed my light poles and diffusion panel and stuck a slightly reluctant Alex there for a quick shot. And it was very quick. I had to crop because the rest of the background was yucky. I almost gave up and considered doing an indoor studio shot for today's shot, but I photoshopped, and lightroomed and used one of those presets (Creative B&W Low Contrast), and now I kinda like it.
Back to before I did all that editing. It looks like I still need to try a lot of stuff and take a lot of shots before I get something that I like.
Strobist info: Camera Nikon D70. Lens 85.o mm f/1.4. ISO 200. 1/250 sec at f/2.8. Available light only. Shot at 5:15 p.m. Alex is standing to the side of a DIY diffusion panel which is standing almost vertically. The sun is camera left. There was very little sun left by the time I got this off; it was disappearing fast behind the trees.
