Difussion coefficient is proportional to the velocity of the diffusing particles, which depends on the temperature, viscosity of the fluid and the size of the particles according to the Stokes-Einstein relation.

I used to paint. I loved learning the different watercolor techniques, most of which I've now forgotten, it's been so long. I tried to introduce watercolor to Kale yesterday, in hopes of turning out some colorful pieces for cards, but our supplies proved to be in need of replacing. It's been that long. Most of my tubes and pencils (watercolor) were dry and brittle.

I've added new paint, brown tape and a few good blocks of paper to my Santa list. Maybe I'll get lucky ;)

I've always loved the transparency of watercolor, how you have to paint "backward" anticipating where you'll need light well before you put the brush to paper. I love the way the colors diffuse, I love it all. I quite like the way this red bleeds here.

Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. The molecules will end up mixed together.

The molecules in these sprays diffused throughout my house as I took the photos. My husband is now complaining of a headache :)

Another AI image generator. Works pretty well, although free version is pretty erratic in its NSFW filters. Harder to use than Midjourney I think. Some goodimages overall.

Makayla did her own hair and makeup.

All incandescent light. Main light was a modeling light from an Alien Bees B1600 with standard 7" reflector with 40° grid and diffusion sock in front, directly right of camera. Overall lighting illuminating Makayla's left side coming from four Edison bulbs extended on a boom arm. Rim light illuminating her right side was an incandescent modeling lamp in an Alien Bees B1600 with a small, ungridded Chimera strip bank.

1m glass tube (diameter about 30 mm); bungs in each end. Cotton wool soaked in conc. ammonia (care) in left-hand end, cotton wooll soaked in conc. hydrochloric acid (care) in the other end. Indicator paper strip (dry) along the inside of the tube - in this case universal indicator but litmus paper can be used. Ammonia fumes diffuse from left to right; acid fumes diffuse from right to left. The indicator paper changes colour as they move - red at the right, blue at the left. A cloud of ammonium chloride forms where the vapours meet (see insert). Takes about 15 minutes.

Quick, cheap ONE light setup. Ikea flexi-gooseneck floor lamp with 23W CFL (full spectrum, pretty danged bright - used as a task lamp ordinarily) shooting thru heavy tracing paper in a foamcore frame. Move diffuser closer to lamp for harder shadows, further from lamp for softer wrap-around shadows. Foamcore bounce card for fill on shadow side. (Could use strobe instead of continuous light...or use both: continuous for modeling lamp, strobe for easy exposure.)

Here I had the diffusion like a partial tent over part of the top of the subject. The subject "saw" a BIG light source. (big is what makes it "soft"; smaller source is what make it harsh.)

Photos of the A720IS are in exact same setup, just rotated away from light or toward light. (Had 40D on a tripod in Program mode, so exposures are slightly different)
