I wasn't even aware Norev made small scale trucks so this substantial looking Renault Premium articulated tanker was quite a nice surprise when I saw a few hanging on the pegs of an E.Leclerc supermarket.
Again, its more aimed at the toy end of the diecast market but make no mistake this is well cast and detailed enough to please most adult collectors too. A fully licensed cab which looks particularly well sculptured in this all white colour and complete with a realistic trailer and well illustrated packaging. Mint and boxed.
Another new diecast brand to add to my collection but this is no recent AliExpress find. Smart Toys were established in 1998 yet i'd never heard of them until finding this small scale Articulated Truck in Jobs Toys recently. The shop is situated in the coastal town of Fleetwood which probably explains why this was originally imported by the local HTI company!
The casting is unlicensed but can only assume it was based on a real truck, any suggestions? Ironically the OOCL branding is licensed. Mint and boxed.
When collecting diecasts I tend to put them into three distinctive groups;
Licensed
Unlicensed
Generic
Licensed obviously usually being the most preferred with the realism you'd expect from an authorised product plus usually with official badging and identification.
Unlicensed where its obvious the model is based on a real vehicle but theres no badging and sometimes a little bit of modifications to the styling to prevent legal issues.
Generic where the manufacturer has deliberately designed models to not resemble any true vehicle either because they are overtly fantasy aimed or an expression of the designer.
Contrary to popular belief I don't hate ALL generics, I don't mind them if they are well designed, believable in styling and more importantly don't dominate a line up as what has happened with HTI, Zuru, Dickie Toys and nearly Matchbox a few years ago!
A new range of generics have suddenly appeared in Lidl supermarkets under the Playtive Racers brand. Manufactured by or on behalf of a German company called Delta-Sport Handelskontor GmbH, they even have their name stamped onto the baseplates so maybe these castings are unique to this enterprise, they include this rather bulky Muscle Car-esque casting.
Clearly a budget affair but it does possess an interior, well applied matte effect paint and detailed lights and as a novelty item isn't too disappointing for the price.

The Corgi Cameo series were introduced back in the very late 1980's/early 90's as a budget competitor to the likes of Lledo and their Days Gone line. Comprising mainly of vintage era vehicles they also produced a small range of 50's and 60's cars which were usually available in gift sets and given away in various promotions.
For some strange reason I'd always written these off as being too big for my tastes when in actual fact they are only a little bit bigger than 1/64 and very much still within my "three inch" parameters.
I recently found a wonderful Cadbury's branded four vehicle set which included this delightful early style Citroen 2CV which is probably on par with the Norev equivalent for size. A fairly simplistic casting denoting its budget roots but still wonderfully accurate and decently detailed. This example dates from 1992 when Mattel now owned Corgi yet was still made in Great Britain when most Corgi products had since shifted production to China.

Im almost glad Matchbox no longer make this 1969 Volvo P1800S casting anymore, can you imagine it plastered in dull grey plastic!! This is another one of those Golden Era Matchbox models from around ten years ago which dragged me back in to the world of Matchbox from which my sanity and bank balance have never recovered since! For a pocket money plaything it looks and feels almost perfect and captures those iconic 1960's lines brilliantly, an absolute testament to the Matchbox design team of the era.
Bought recently from my local Bargain World who's toy section looks like it belongs in a different era, not ONE SINGLE dreadful HTI generic in sight!
Mint and boxed.
First Oxford Diecast model I've repainted is this Scania Irizar PB, done in Iwan Jones' IJ Travel livery.
Worth mentioning that this was a doddle to work with - from ease of stripping the original paint (unlike the CMNL Trident done at the same time) to the way everything dropped easily into place on reassembly.
Nice one Oxford - and a good quality casting as well!!
Majorette, the diecast brand which just keeps on giving! ;-)
With a real emphasis on quality and play value and not much evidence of savage cost cutting measures in place like at Planet Mattel they are a sheer delight on the rare occasion they make an appearance here in the U.K.
Apart from Morrisons with their small and limited range nobody else seems to have the guts or inclination to offer the full selection permanently, always predictably going down the Hot Wheels and HTI generics route! Im certain most parents wouldn't mind paying that little bit extra for items like this gorgeous new generation Porsche Panamera proudly wearing its modern looking Police livery coupled with a decent boat which is actually removable too.
The Panamera itself appears to be a clever update of their original casting altering its front lights and rear design for a cost effective make over and one done very successfully in my eyes.

About a year ago I took A picture of the Haulers in my collection and it is the second most visited picture I have. Since that time I found twenty, or so more haulers in a closet. I am posting this as an update. I will add the additional information about the haulers as time permits.
For the first time I managed to get the entire collection on one picture. To see more detail, click on All Sizes and go to original size. There are about 126 haulers, I will be adding to the listing below each day until I have them all listed.

The last time I bought any Suntoys diecasts was way back in December 2016 when Wilkinsons were clearing their stocks of licensed castings to make way for horrid HTI generics. Their el cheapo range and newer overly generic castings can still be found here but absolutely nothing of interest. That was until today! Smyths Toys appear to be slowly moving away from using Pioneer as their budget in house range and replacing them with more Suntoys. This Police car caught my eyes immediately whilst in their store as unbelievably its a VERY thinly disguised Lada 110! Whether or not its a Welly copy is up for debate but apart from its blanked out rear side windows this is actually a decent if somewhat obscure representation right down to its slab sided styling. Part of a new Revz Emergency Response four vehicle set. Mint and boxed.
