Both of my Ford F150 King Ranch and the Hummer that I built recently were inspired by die cast cars. This month's LUGnuts challenge, called Our first wheels, is all about building LEGO cars inspired by toy cars.

These may be LEGO models that I've had a for a while, but I have never shown them with the cars that inspired them.

A little weathering, mirrors, and some aerodynamics helped make this tractor trailer look good for a diorama, or the model railroad.

I built the Cadillac and the Impala both are 1:25 scale plastic kits, manufactured by Monogram Models. They're both from 1959.

The 1933 Cadillac is 1:32 scale - and the Porsche is 1:24 scale, both are die cast.
