I happened to open my excellent Websters 2nd edition unabridged dictionary (from the 1950s) to this page. Most of these companies don't exist anymore even though there is a lot more shipping today. Stupid, republican excrement like McClown and the hillbilly would have had us spend every dime we have to keep some of these companies alive if this was the 1959 election. Yes, it's an analogy to their dream of drilling for more oil instead of finding a alternatives. There is nothing, nothing worse, more stupid, or more cowardly than a republican.

Lots of books. Lots of dictionaries, because I don't speak Spanish.

The Carnegie-Collier Rotary Club graciously donated dictionaries to the entire third grade class.

I made a page like this in a round robin dictionary and then copied it into my book. I did that with several of my favorites and am glad I did. The pages on the right lift up to show photos of various stages in my grandpa, George Stemen's, life. I did a survey on the Yahoo Altered Book group asking who people thought of when they heard the name George. The small photos show some of the results.

 

This is done on an old dictionary page. The idea is to visually show the definition. This dictionary has a section in the back on names.

Fluent in English has more or less become compulsory to stay competitive. Equipping oneself with "mobile" compact talking dictionary has become a trend in Asia. Soon, I believe, our mobile phone turns to be talking dictionary because of the convergence of the technology

The first Christian missionaries in Japan in the 16th century wrote a Latin-Portuguese-Japanese dictionary. In 1870, the french missionaries who built the Ōura Catholic Church published this version, with the Portuguese removed.

 

Since the romanization is based on Portuguese, rather than English or Japanese (as in the modern Hepburn and Kunrei romanization systems), it is a tad difficult to read.

Now I know how he learns his words.
