The two reservoirs, Dexter and Lookout Point, were created in 1954 when the United States Army Corps of Engineers finished building the dams that contain them. Dexter exists partly to control water surges from the upstream lake during Lookout Point's production of hydroelectricity. Dexter Lake's water levels vary greatly, while the flow below Dexter Dam remains relatively steady. The Dexter and Lookout Point projects are among 13 that the Corps built in the Willamette Valley.
Dexter Lake supports populations of rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass. The lake also has large populations of northern pikeminnow. The City of Lowell encourages removal of this rough fish during a pikeminnow contest held each July.
Dexter, who belongs to some friends, is such a sweet dog. He had so much fun playing in the snow and thankfully he stood still long enough to get a shot of him with some mountains. :)

This face with the muddy chin, eye goop, matted ears that need to be brushed is just too cute. He still steals socks from the laundry, hides under the bed, and loves to play keep away, but he is a sweet boy. Dexter is now three, and we can't quite imagine life without him and his cohort Rory who is also 3 ( I took a photo of him last week).

Dexter came when he was about two months old, now he's six, I found Aki when he was about twelve, now she's more than nineteen.
They are inseparable, from the moment they met ❤

Eagerly, too, I might add. Like the rest of us here in NEOhio. He's watching the snow and ice give way grudgingly while he dreams of some little walks down the road or some longer ones into the woods.
One thing is clear, without treats there is no way to look at the camera!

We lost this wonderful dude on Tuesday and our hearts are broken. Never gets easier losing a 4-legged best friend. He was always game to join us on our adventures right up till the end. I'm reminded of one of my favorite Stephen King quotes at a time like this:
"You want to be good for the ones you love, because you know that your time with them will end up being too short, no matter how long it is."
Rest easy little buddy.

Just back from exercising and I wanted to try and take a self-portrait today and got everything set up but Dexter wanted my attention. He kept jumping on my head and bringing me his toys so I just decided to try and make it fun. We can be so critical of ourselves and this image makes me cringe in many ways but I like how it reflects my playful side, my strong side and the ridiculousness of my headband. Sharing an image may not seem like an act of bravery but it is for me.
PS I was going to take the image in my garage and started backing my vehicle out but didn't notice the door was partially down. Fortunately, I was lucky and didn't do any damage. I was still a bit shaken up when I took this.
