As I read the email regarding life drawings and specific Jewellery designs, I realised that my portfolio may be lacking what was required. I have included some designs and final pieces I have created. I also thought it was appropriate to include one of my drawings to show my creative background.

This piece very much explores the psychological state of mind individuals endure in extreme circumstances. States of mind interest me greatly, particularly the way in which states of mind vary and can have a major impact on the final product being created, (in this case my art work). This appropriation of Goya’s ‘Saturn devouring his son’ from the series entitled the’ Black Paintings’ has a very symbolic and personal meaning to myself. I believe creating work from a personal perspective but also including varying states of mind could assist me in the design and production of Jewellery from a personal perspective but also bespoke target markets.
The Devour Collection came from an image taken by my dear friend Greggory. I worked on it over a three week visit to my parents last September.

Not quite sure what the story was here, but the man under the plants was crawling along as if being attacked or devoured by the wild grasses. While the person balanced on the bike rack filmed it all.
Abandoned since 1956, the town of Kolmanskop in the heart of the Namib desert in South West Africa, is slowly being reclaimed by Nature.
Metaphorically, to me, the sand represents time and the doorways represent different chapters in our lives. As we move from one to the next, each room fills with memories, knowledge and experiences shaping who we are. I used a fish eye lens on this shot to accentuate the sheer volume of sand as it swells inside the fragile wood structures.
