The western coastline of Senja is wild and stunning. These characteristic mountains nicknamed "djevelens tanngard" ("devils jaw" in english) reach out into the Norwegian sea like fingers.
For Easter dinner, my wife prepared a ham dinner. For sides we had okra, deviled eggs, green bean casserole, hash brown potato casserole, and cross buns. She made a lot of deviled eggs!
This devil / demon has an evil smile on his face.
Also, notice how he has his legs crossed.
I think he's relaxing just a bit too much ;)

This amazing exhibition tells the story of arguably the Greatest Munitions Factory on Earth, which was constructed on the Anglo-Scottish Border between scenic Dornock in Scotland and bustling Longtown in England. During 1915, Britain was at a massive disadvantage in the early part of the Great War through lack of a decent and consistent supply of quality ammunition.
That is until 30,000 women and men travelled from all over the world to come and work in this one massive factory, purpose built by the government on the northern shore of the Solway Firth specifically to mass manufacture cordite: a smokeless explosive usually made from nitro-glycerine and nitro-cotton that would go on to turn the battle around! Within 2 years this one uber factory was producing 1,100 tons of cordite a week, which was more than all the other munitions plants in Britain put together!

I just got home, and for one reason or another, couldn't fall asleep, so I ended up going through a Korean social network where I had previously uploaded a lot of pictures from when I was in college. There's a lot of really random ones, including these two of a deviled egg costume that belonged to one of our friends that we found right before we left for spring break.
Oddly enough, I remember this day pretty clearly. It was the last Friday when everyone left for break, and for one reason or another, I was set to drive out to the Outerbanks (of North Carolina) the next morning rather than that afternoon. There were a few other people who were also there for the night, including Katie Mills, in the picture above, and Lee N whose egg costume it was. We spent a decent amount of time running around the Kitchin courtyard chilling in the egg suit. If you look closely on my left hand, there's a faded pen from a date function the night before that I still couldn't get off-- sooo college.
Fun fact: the face I'm making in the picture on the right is the face that I made for 75% of the pictures taken of me during that couple of years.
I guess it's just exceptionally weird to me that this was more than 4 years ago.
The corrugated iron station building at Devil's Bridge, Vale of Rheidol Railway. It dates from the opening of the line in 1902 and is (as far as I know) the only suriving original building. 19th June 2001.
Having failed in our attempt to drive to Vultee Arch on FR152 near Sedona, Arizona (road was too much for our friends' 4-wheel drive Suzuki, and we had already driven over some pretty bad roads!), we stopped off to see Devil's Bridge, a fairly short hike, but intense near the end. (12-02-09-2595)

Devils Tower (Lakota: Mato Tipila, which means “Bear Lodge”) is a monolithic igneous intrusion or volcanic neck located in the Black Hills near Hulett and Sundance in Crook County, northeastern Wyoming, above the Belle Fourche River. It rises dramatically 1,267 feet (386 m) above the surrounding terrain and the summit is 5,112 feet (1,558 m) above sea level.
Devils Tower was the first declared United States National Monument, established on September 24, 1906, by President Theodore Roosevelt. The Monument's boundary encloses an area of 1,347 acres (5.45 km2).
In recent years about 1% of the Monument's 400,000 annual visitors climb Devils Tower, mostly through traditional climbing techniques.
