The first color film with my Foca PF2B (year 1956) in Lyon, France, on December 8 and 11, 2022.
Due to the poor light of December, I chose a Kodak Portra 400 36-exposure film that was exposed for 400 ISO using my Minolta Autometer III and its 10° finder for selective measurements. Typically for series of December 8, the exposures were 1/50s or 1/100s at f/4 to the full aperture.
Parc de la Tête d'Or, December 8, 2022
69006 Lyon
France
After the C-41 process by a local service the film was digitalized using a Sony A7 body and a Minolta Slide Duplicator with a Minolta Auto Bellows III with a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5.
All views of the film are presented in the dedicated album either in the printed framed versions and unframed full-size jpeg.
About the camera :
The Foca type PF2B (PF standing for "Petit Format") was constructed in France by the company "Optique & Precision de Levallois" (OPL) starting from 1947. This exemplary was manufactured in the Chateaudun OPL factory, route de Jallans, France, in 1956 among a late series of the PF2B. The factory, constructed in 1938 is still there under the name of SAFRAN now producing precision devices for aerospace appliances.
The camera is equipped with the collapsible OPLAR lens (a Tessar formula) 1:2.8 f=5cm. The focal shutter of the PF2B has timing of 1/1000, 1/500, 1/200, 1/100, 1/50 and 1/25s plus the B pose. A slow exposure device below 1/25s could be installed by the aftermarket service and was installed in series for the FOCA PF3 type.
How to make a small, but very efficient stove in about ten minutes using a few empty cans
A rocket stove is an ingenious cooking device that produces a whole lot of heat with very little fuel. I’ve seen manufactured ones you can buy, but they’re actually super simple to build using found materials like brick, stone, or, as in my case, recycled cans.
Now, when I want to use my barbeque or smoker, but I don’t need a whole bed of coals because I’m cooking something small or cold smoking, I can get things started with a bit of scrap paper, a couple of twigs and a single piece of wood or charcoal.
It took me less than 20 minutes to build my little rocket stove, but I was stumbling along without a plan of action. If you have your tools and supplies ready, I’ll bet you can put this little wonder together in 10 minutes or less.
Supplies Neeeded
Stove parts
Large coffee can (1-½ to 3lbs size)
Two empty vegetable / soup cans (12-16 ounce)
Sand, gravel or pebbles
Small grill grate* or an 8″ square of wire mesh
* You can find these in the kitchen, BBQ and camping sections of most any home improvement or big box store. If you’ve got a dollar store nearby, try that — I found mine there.
Tools
Tin snips or metal shears
Drill with a 5/16-in or larger bit
Pencil or marker pen
Instructions
Tip: you want to remove the labels from the cans before you light your stove (bits of flaming label everywhere are no fun), but wait until after you’ve cut your holes. Making the cut marks on the label is much easier than the can itself.
Remove the tops and bottoms from both vegetable cans
Step 1 – Remove both ends of the vegetable cans.
Trace one can on the side of the other, cut out piece with snips
Step 2 – Hold the opening of one vegetable can on the side of the other and trace the outline onto the side. The bottom of the opening shold be a little lower than bottom of the other can so you’re tracing a “U” shape instead of a full circle. Using tin snips, follow the trace to cut a “U” shape from the side of the can.
Trace the opening of the can on the side of the coffee can, cut out and remove.
Step 3 – Trace the outline of the vegetable can on the side of the coffee can near the bottom, about ½-inch from the rim. Use a drill and bit to make a starter hole at the edge of the outline on the coffee can. Then use the tin snips to cut out the full circle and remove.
Assemble the stove by aligning the holes and sliding the 3rd can in place
Step 4 – Place the vegetable can with the cutout into the coffee can and turn it so the holes in both are aligned. Pass the other vegetable can through the side of the coffee can and into the smaller can inside to make the firebox and chimney.
Add sand, gravel or pebbles to hold the cans inside in place
Step 5 – Fill the inside of the coffee can about half full of sand, gravel or pebbles, taking care not to let it spill into the center can. This material will help keep the firebox and chimney in place while also keeping the outside of the stove from getting red hot.
That’s it! The rocket stove is complete. Add your grate or wire mesh for the grill top and you’re ready to cook.
To get it running all you do is place a few sticks and a bit of paper in the “firebox” on the side, light it and bang, you’ll have a hot, fuel efficient fire you can run on twigs.
Rocket stove started with twigs and paper
Note: This is a small stove for short burn times. I don’t recommend running it for extended periods. For that type of use, try a rocket stove made with bricks or concrete blocks.

Two solar trees that generate photovoltaic electricity are being installed in the capital city of Moldova.
They will be able to charge up for free their mobile devices, computers, electric bicycles; have access to the Internet and relax. In the evenings, the trees will light up the surroundings due to the stored sun energy during the day. The solar trees will be under 24-hour video surveillance. We are implementing this initiative in partnership with the Chisinau City Hall.

The Colossus machines were electronic computing devices used by British codebreakers to read encrypted German messages during World War II. These were the world's first programmable, digital, electronic, computing devices. They used vacuum tubes (thermionic valves) to perform the calculations.
Construction of a fully-functional replica of a Colossus Mark II has been undertaken by a team led by Tony Sale. In spite of the blueprints and hardware being destroyed, a surprising amount of material survived, mainly in engineers' notebooks, but a considerable amount of it in the US.
The reconstruction is on display, in the historically correct place for Colossus No. 9, in H Block Bletchley Park Museum in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Sadly Tony Sale passed away on 30th August 2011, but he leaves behind a lasting memory of the work carried out at Bletchley Park during the days of World War II.

TMS-PAD System of Quantex Technologies writes another success story as Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, uses and praises it. During one of his recent visits, the prime minister scanned his body temperature through this temperature screening kiosk system, appreciating the hygiene and safety standards it rolled out.
Quantex's TMS-PAD System is an all in one temperature screening device that allows face and thermal image detection. It uses a network processing system to measure body temperature and record real-time surveillance video.
This epidemic prevention solution includes:
- Built-in warning system to alarm the authorities about the body temperature abnormalities.
- Built-in network transmission module to monitor body temperatures without the need for touching the equipment. The module also allows remote transmission of temperature measurement results, highlighting the information related to unusual temperatures.
- Built-in battery to ensure unhindered operability of 8 hours. The system can also be provisioned with a support frame for gaining temporary control on site.
TMS-PAD System takes as low as 0.5 seconds to complete each temperature measurement process with a precision ranging from ±0.1 °C to ±0.5 °C.

The DigiEnsemble Berlin exclusively uses digital devices to perform the aria “Großer Herr, o starker König” from the famous and glorious Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach.
For two year now, the DigiEnsemble Berlin has explored the opportunities of mobile music. This aria, however, is a very important step in the course of the musician’s quest, due to the high qualitative aspiration and requirements of the piece. The DigiEnsemble Berlin physically premiers the piece together with the singer Roman Trekel at the Berlin Cathedral on the 16th December 2012.

These are ThumbJam as a sampler for all instruments, Geo Synth as the instrumental surface and “MIDI In Motion” as a motion controller of volume (Schwehn has provides us with a beta version), connected via virtual midi.
