BAUT is a project by Jan Brokof (Drawings / Collages), Alfredo Bautista (Sound Installations / Noise Devices), Theo Boettger (Drawings / Installations), and Martin Böttger (Visual Art / Sculpture).
The concept of the project BAUT is to found a band of different ascendancies of music; combining different genre like noise, electronic, break beat, metal, punk, rap, and soundscapes. The project is supposed to involve all things, a regular music band represents plus exploring the possibilities of visual artistic expression within a showcase.
Their first exhibition was held at the gallery Delikatessenhaus Leipzig; where they created three different rooms: a festival room for the performance, a merchandise room for selling shirts and vinyl, and finally the backstage room.

What happens if you take four artists who had nothing to do with music so far, give them a barrel full of magazines and electro garbage and ask them to create an audiovisual work out of it. Together. As a band with bandname, livegig, labeldeal, release etc. We have checked it out and don't want to withhold the result from the world.
Their oeuvre can be best described as experimental noise. The lyrics are mostly collages of quotations from diverse magazines and newspapers which were modified and combined with own text passages.

Device Art is a new form of art that brings out the essence of technology through new materials and mechatronic devices. This concept challenges the traditional paradigm of art by merging technology, art and design.The Device Art project was launched in 2004 together with *CREST* project funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency. Hiroo Iwata leads the project, its formal title being, *Expressive Science and Technology for Device Art.* The concept of *Device Art* spread throughout the world, including artists from UCLA and a curator team from Croatia/Slovenia. Many people have been inspired by the concept of Device Art.

AND + W2 is a four day programme of debates and artworks, constituting the only Games time cultural collaboration between the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012. It is produced by W2 and is thematically structured around the Abandon Normal Devices (AND) festival of new cinema and digital culture. AND is a Legacy Trust funded programme in England’s Northwest. Produced in association with FACT, Tenantspin and Dada for Vancouver 2010 and the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad programme in England’s Northwest.
What does it mean to be human in the 21st century? How are definitions of disability and ability being transgressed in art and sport? What is the role of science, technology and new media in establishing new norms? What are the characteristics of our new biotechnological economy? Speakers from the UK, Canada, Netherlands, and USA present daily debates, film screenings and parties on these three themes.

The Olympic Games are measures of human excellence but what happens when those measures are disrupted by self-augmentation and body modification? Our biological apparatus is in flux, vulnerable, yet re-imagined by technology. What will ability and disability mean in an era of genetically modified athletes and surgically sculpted children? How are artists contributing to this research and debate? For example, genetically screening for ‘perfect pitch’ may produce ideal singers, but whose ideal? Alternatively, what will the integration of future technology within biology mean for how humans communicate with each other via performances (dance, music or sport)? .

The DigiEnsemble Berlin exclusively uses digital devices to perform the aria “Großer Herr, o starker König” from the famous and glorious Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach.
For two year now, the DigiEnsemble Berlin has explored the opportunities of mobile music. This aria, however, is a very important step in the course of the musician’s quest, due to the high qualitative aspiration and requirements of the piece. The DigiEnsemble Berlin physically premiers the piece together with the singer Roman Trekel at the Berlin Cathedral on the 16th December 2012.

The entire sound is created on the digital devices themself. Therefore, three apps run simultaneously. These are ThumbJam as a sampler for all instruments, Geo Synth as the instrumental surface and “MIDI In Motion” as a motion controller of volume (Schwehn has provides us with a beta version), connected via virtual midi.

Growth Rendering Device is a kinetic installation that captures the growth of a pea plant over a 24-hour period. Suspended in a nutrient-rich hydroponic solution the pea plant growth is recorded during the length of the exhibition. Attached to a wall, the plant is connected to a vertical scanner, an ink-jet printer, and a growth light. This system provides everything that is needed to sustain and record the plant's development. The device produces a rasterized drawing every twenty-four hours. After each new drawing is produced the system scrolls the roll of paper approximately four inches to make way for the next drawing cycle to begin. The outcome of this work is not predetermined. As the name suggests the focus is on growth - a complete feedback system between machine and plant, however it is possible that what the machine may record is also the decay and demise of the plant. Drawing marked parallels to Gregor Mendel's work on inheritance in peas, Growth Rendering Device seems to ask whether both the machinic and artistic parent will leave their mark on their offspring.
