Patrakaali aka Devi Durga

First is the tiny Mahadev shrine, and then behind it is the main temple. Also at right side, far behind, a part of the Chitragupta temple can be seen! Shot from the Kandariya Mahadev temple. At Khajuraho, MP

Another Senior portrait of Devi from one of those lazy Sunday afternoons at the Cafe Coffee Day Joints. I should say CCD has become notoriously insensitive. Nowadays they seem to lack variety and don't have stock of most of the things on the menu.

The best part is i was told NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED after this picture. They did allow other people with smaller cameras to take pictures but not me because i had a very big camera (thanks to the huge sigma 24-70 lens) and i may use it for taking inappropriate pictures of other people candidly. I though those sort of mischief was done with a camera phone? No you say?!?

They said their customers may probably object. Logical pleas like "please let me know if someone objects to me taking pictures of my friends at this coffee shop and i will put my camera down" did not appeal to their logic. They said "sir you have a large camera and a flash too". I urge everyone with a DSLR to go to Indira Nagar CCD in Chennai and try shoot a picture of your friend. You shall be pleasantly surprised. Looks like the Point and Shoot guys are waging a secret war against us DSLR junkies. That's my conspiracy theory.

The Devi with her four children... killing the evil....

In Hinduism, Devi Durga or Maa Durga( Mother Durga) is one who can redeem in situations of utmost distress. She is a form of Devi, the supremely radiant goddess, depicted as having ten arms, riding a lion, carrying weapons and a lotus flower, maintaining a meditative smile, and practicing mudras, or symbolic hand gestures.Durga incarnated as the united power of all divine beings, who offered her the required physical attributes and weapons to kill the demon "Mahishasur".
