Devi Jagadambi Temple (early eleventh century) shares a platform with the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple. Originally dedicated to Vishnu, the image within the sanctum is one of Parvati as goddess of the world. Since the image is in black the temple is also known as the Kali Temple. The carvings on the outer walls are among the best . They include several of Vishnu, one of Yama ( the God of death), amorous couples and surasundaris whose sinuous postures and expressions of intense absorption characterise them as masterpieces of the fully developed Chandella style.
