Dipika, Tulasi, Dila and her husband Bhuwan (from left to right) pose on the porch in front of Dila and Bhuwan's home. The couple are closely involved in the development of their community: Bhuwan is a school principal and Dila works for a grassroots NGO that seeks to empower women at the local level. They made their home available for girls from Gutu village, Surkhet District to be interviewed in a discrete environment about their experiences with menstrual banishment (chhaupadi) in their village.

Irene has lived in Kibarani for 12 years and worries about being evicted from her home by a truck transport company who wants to buy a plot of land in her area. During an interview, she spoke about the disproportionate burden that women face during evictions, since they must take care of the children as well as themselves. Gender-based violence is also prominent during the chaos of a forced eviction.

For sale by WillowTree Development, presumably part of a development effort that never materialized (WillowTree developed the Invivo/Stubbys/Bayou project just south of here).

Just east of the intersection of North and Humboldt Avenues, I think this is a perfect spot for infill development someday in the near future.

Avenida Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City is one of the city’s main east-west boulevards and a major commercial corridor. The avenue links older midcentury buildings with newer high-rise towers in the financial district. It also carries heavy traffic toward Chapultepec and western Mexico City.

It's far, far away from even alpha stage, but I'm finally sensing the slightest feel that this might actually work out.

For the uninitiated, this little popup window is feature in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger that comes with an Oxford English thesaurus and dictionary, and lets you quickly look up any English word merely by pressing ctrl-cmd-D. Hugely convenient, but unfortunately thus far a private, undocumented and rather obscure API. My goal: to extend it to work with MYSTlore (and perhaps other stuff later on).

The above is not a fake screenshot. It is far from a complete implementation, but it is a live screenshot. No photoshopping, no nothing; just a crop of the rest of the screen. Making screenshots of this panel is actually hard; you have to use the "Timed Screen" mode, rather than invoking a keyboard shortcut (because that shortcut would close the panel immediately!).

I call it "Project Cawdrey". Look it up on Wikipedia. :-)

The one thing that i won't forget about Chinese cities is the massive highrise construction going on, in some cities there were more being built than already existing.

16 September 2020. Asian Development Fund (ADF) donors have agreed to a replenishment of more than $4 billion for the ADF 13 and Technical Assistance Special Fund 7, for the 4-years from 2021 to 2024, in a meeting held on the sidelines of the 53rd Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors (2nd Stage). The total size of the replenishment represents a 7% increase in comparison to the previous replenishment, which covered the 2017-2020 period. In his opening remarks, ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa highlighted that both funds will be critical in responding to the COVID-19 crisis and building an inclusive and sustainable recovery in the poorest and most vulnerable countries.

This was the ADF 13 third and final replenishment meeting as part of a negotiation process that started in November 2019 and continued in February 2020. The ADF provides grants to ADB's lower-income developing member countries and supports critical thematic agendas in the Asia and Pacific region.

ADB’s second stage of its 53rd Annual Meeting will be held via virtual meetings and online seminars from 17 to 18 September. At the event, Ministers from ADB members, ADB Management, and development and industry experts will discuss a range of issues confronting Asia and the Pacific as it responds to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Webinar topics include universal health coverage, regional cooperation, technology and investments, resilient and inclusive recovery, and domestic resource mobilization. View the full list of webinars and meetings.

The first stage of the 53rd Annual Meeting comprised a reduced-scale meeting of the Board of Governors on 22 May, during which Governors approved ADB’s financial statements and net income allocation in line with ADB institutional requirements.

A brave decision was taken to move the railway between Son Fuster and Palma city centre underground, and create a new subterranean Intermodal station alongside Plaza Espana, housing the trains, out-of-city buses and the new Metro line. Work was carried out in 2006/7. A huge civil engineering task, carried out remarkably quickly. This series of images shows various stages of the project. Looking towards the new station, the tracks by now underground. A park has been created on this large open space.

Development work for a project where a poster and leaflet were set to be designed for a Rachel Whiteread exhibition entitled 'I Am Not Here'.

Using gallery visits & primary research (i.e Allen Jones Exhibition (as above)) to inspire designs and colour schemes

Yellow paint, woven passenger/cargo deck. This particular bike got some nice colorful grips.

This is the typography development I explored for a domestic abuse campaign in which I researched different options and their suitability in relation to the rest of the campaign. I also designed my own fonts to assess how effective they would be, before deciding on the most successful. By using the research page, which outlined the aims and needs of my campaign, I could focus on the requirements of my target audience.
