I indulged in a little photo-geekery just to see how noticeable the effects of stand-development are compared to normal agitation.
Here we have an overview scanned at 3200dpi; the left is stand-dev (1+100 for 55mins), while the right was the recommended 1+50 for 7mins agitated 5x every 30s.
There was a difference in overall contrast so I've normalized the levels as best as possible.
Here we see the effect of acutance on the lines at edges of slate sheets and rock texture.

Everywhere the Skytrain goes, old buildings are torn down, and new highrises go up. The idea of the various city planners seems to be that people who live next to the line will take public transit rather than using their cars. This is a myth, of course, but in any case, land values rise, and developers move in. Behind this fence Bosa Corp will be erecting at least one, and possibly two highrises, with, as they say, retail space available. On this site there used to be a Safeway, and about half of the Burquitlam Plaza, with small stores, a gas station, and a parking lot. Is it progress? Somehow, it doesn't seem like it.

Hajvery University (HU) Career Development Society (CDS) held an event for the motivation and emotional support of the youth mainly the students of Hajvery University. The event catered to anybody who cared to attend and listen to the wonderful speaker, be it the youth or even a 70 year old could benefit from the pearls of wisdom scattered on that wonderful day. The speaker was Qaiser Abbas. Pakistan’s highest paid motivational speaker and probably a pioneer of what he does in our country. And the author of International Best-seller ‘Tick Tick Dollar’.
The environment was electric and for the first time in a while everybody attending the event was expecting quite nice things to come their way. This was the reason the auditorium was packed. The theme was DREAM BIG AND HAVE BELIEF. His speech was highly motivational he said nobody in your life tells you your potential but always it’s you who should belief in his own potential. That belief led you to dream big one night and bigger the next night. But dreaming was not everything, to back up those dreams; you have to work day and night, tirelessly and ferociously towards his goals. Students energies renewed, their picture about their selves totally changed and changed for the good.

The Buildings
The following is an extract from the Archaeology Consultation contained in the planning application by Teignbridge District Council:
“The proposed development involves the change of use of the lodge and The eastern (Church of England) Mortuary Chapel, along with the demolition of the remains of western (Non-Conformist) Mortuary Chapel. It has been suggested that these buildings were designed by the notable local architect J.W. Rowell, who designed a number of buildings in and around Newton Abbot in the mid-19th century. The western mortuary chapel is described as a store, but is in fact the remains of the Non-Conformist Mortuary Chapel.
These buildings were probably built in the 1850’s, are an attractive group of buildings designed by a local architect built to serve the 19th century planned out-of-town cemetery and are located in the middle of its oldest part. Given the quality of these buildings, their link with a local architect and their contribution they make to the historic cemetery and the 19th century town I would advise that this planning application was not determined until further information is submitted in support of this planning application. This information should set out:
Earliest References
The following reference comes from:
THE TEIGNMOUTH GUIDE “containing a description of the town and of the places and remarkable points of interestin the neighbourhood; the excursions and walks, the wild flowers, ferns and sea weeds to be found in the district, climate, &c, &c. Sixteenth edition, with considerable additions.”
The guide was written by Nicholas Toms Carrington, January 1 1865. It was published and printed by Edward Croydon and George Henry Croydon. Interestingly the Croydon family are themselves interred in the Teignmouth Old Cemetery.
“Since the prohibition of intra-mural interments, a public Cemetery was opened nearly a mile from the town, on the old Exeter road. The situation is commanding, and the enclosed space, which is entirely surrounded by a wall and railing, may comprise about two acres. The usual division exists between the portions appropriated to the worshippers belonging to the Church of England and dissenters, and there are also two chapels for the conducting of the burial service.
The grounds are well laid out, and considerable taste is displayed in tending the resting-places of many of the departed — thus giving a pleasing air of neatness and solemn retirement to the hallowed precincts of the graveyards. Admittance may be obtained at all times (except during the hours of Divine service on Sundays), on application at the porter’s lodge.
The management and control of the Cemetery is vested in a body known as the Burial Board, which consists of eighteen members, chosen in an equal manner from the inhabitants of either parish.”

During our residency at Pilchuck Glass School, we expanded on work started at the Museum of Glass and we developed a series of new works involving sound making objects, printmaking and drawing. We gave two performances during our residency, and some of our printmaking was exhibited during November 2014 at the Pilchuck Glass School Exhibition Space. Additional documentation of our performances and print process are linked below.
Our sound work with glass involves the creation of shapes that can be bowed or struck to produce fundamental pitches and harmonics so that one instrument can sound more than one pitch. Working carefully with our expert gaffers, Manny Krakowski and Netty Blair, we were able to make several variations of vessel shapes that each produced a complex spectrum of tones. We were also able to develop methods of linking two or more objects on a rocking base so that two objects could be played simultaneously by one player and variations on timbre and attack through bowing, striking, rocking were possible.
For our performances we grouped objects in terms of their tunings and timbres making tuning changes (by reshaping, or filling vessels with water) where necessary to create a specific temperament. Once we created a temperament we improvised extensively with it and developed compositions for it. Our compositions are a mix of rehearsed sections/gestures connected by improvisation. While we usually decide how to start and end, the pieces are largely determined during the performance.
In both our sound and print work we used electro-magnet/neodymium magnet setups where the magnets moved in response to changes in the polarities of our electro-magnets that were triggered by fluctuations in the EMF of the space where they were.
As sound, the clinking/tapping of the magnets against glass added a percussive, chaotic element to our compositions; something that fueled our improvisations as the magnets never behaved the same way in each performance.
For the prints, we used the same set of circuitry, vessels and magnets, but as mark making elements. We set the magnets up on inked plates and let them roll until they were covered in ink and had left marks on the plates. We then made several prints with the plates, and then placed the electro-magnet setup on the prints’ surface in the same configuration and let the neodymium magnets deposit the ink they had previously gathered. Freshly inked magnets were also added in the process. As with the sound pieces, the electro-magnet’s polarity oscillates in response to changes in EMF around them.
Our drawings incorporate variations on the shapes of the goblet and the vessel, primary glassblowing forms that suggested to us the physiology of the inner ear. The drawings functioned as non-dimensional starting points for the development of our sculptural and sound making objects.
Our time at Pilchuck was special and we are grateful to the long list of wonderful people who made our experience so memorable including Tina Aufiero, Rebecca Arday, Jim Baker, Ben Wright, our gaffers Manny Krakowski and Netty Blair, our assistants Keunae Song and Anna Masowsky, Alex Gibson in the printshop, Rebekah Birkan, who constructed the amazing frame for the goblets from found metal in the Pilchuck metal shop and Zach Lorenzetti who made music with us and assisted behind the wheel!
