The Council needs to hear from us again! When we raised our voices in October 2008 against the elimination of the City Arts Funding, the community prevailed. We are Artists, Patrons, Teachers, Parents, Youth, Cultural Workers, Business leaders, Families and Community members. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!
The Oakland City Council considers a 50% Cut to Oakland Arts at a special budget session on Thursday, April 1, 2010, 7:00pm. This is one move closer towards elimination of the Cultural Funding Program, the long-established, competitive City program to provide arts and cultural services reaching 1,416,435 people in Oakland.

A historic office building in Downtown San Jose is the home to entrepreneurs and startups affiliated with the Environmental Business Cluster (EBC), the US Market Access Center (USMAC), and the Entrepreneur Center (eCenter). Space is available for environmental and international start-ups looking for unique office space, and business and financial services and assistance. This program of space and services is offered under a 15-year long partnership between the San Jose Redevelopment Agency, the San Jose State University Research Foundation, and the Humboldt State University Sponsored Programs Foundation.
The Agency has invested more than $20 million in these programs to support the growth of new software, clean tech and emerging technology companies, as well as international businesses looking to expand in the U.S. Along with the incubator and business service programs at the San Jose Innovation Center, the Agency’s investment also includes the San Jose BioCenter, which is located in the Edenvale Technology Park, South San Jose. These programs have been very effective in helping small businesses grow by generating over 2,600 jobs and enabling companies affiliated with the programs to raise $1.6 billion in capital equity financing.

Resource storage for "T4D" - Technology for Development inside UNICEF's Innovation Lab. From Barabanki, beginning Tuesday, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi embarked on his five-day tour of Uttar Pradesh. He criticized the non-Congress governments in the state for the lack of development in Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that the welfare funds sent by the UPA Government at the centre are not reaching the poor man.
“The MGNREGA funds sent to the state are being pocketed by the BSP politicians and ministers. The state government is also not implementing the Janansi Suraksha Yojana (JSY) meant for helping the poor women. In other parts of the country a large number of women have benefitted from the scheme.

Ms. Drolskyid (b. 1984), a married local woman: 'It was unbelievably hard work and worrisome when there was no water in the home; especially when most young family members were working outside. We had to go to the neighbouring village (7km). If there was no water there, we had to go 11km to Shachu River to haul water. The Canada Fund supported water project has eliminated this hard work and brought us a convenient 24 hour running water at home.”
