China's engagement with matters of peace and security in Africa has recently become more prominent. This can be seen in peacekeeping, peacebuilding, conflict mediation, or the measures adopted at the 6th Forum for China-Africa Cooperation summit in December 2015 to strengthen cooperation on peace and security. These underlined how important these are to China's evolving policy engagement with the African continent, including how security relates to development. These panels will bring together leading academic and policy experts from China and Europe to discuss key themes and issues about China's engagement with peace and security in Africa.

MABUHAY ALLIANCE HOST THE 6TH ANNUAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
A conference to Assist Minorities in Finances and Business Opportunities
San Diego, CA – The Mabuhay Alliance, a San Diego-based nonprofit that assists minority communities with economic opportunities, will host their 6th Annual Economic Development Conference on October 17th, 2009, at the Sheraton Park Hotel The Anaheim Resort. 1855 S. Harbor Blvd. Anaheim, CA 92802.
This year's theme will be "Partnering for a better Future," and will feature workshops intended to educate and assist small business owners, families, and individuals to gain insight on how to effectively manage business and personal finances.
The workshops will be lead by industry experts and cover such topics as "Foreclosure Prevention Program," "Micro-Business Technical Assistance," "Financial Literacy," and "Supplier Diversity."
The conference will be concluded with a gala dinner, in which the Mabuhay Alliance will present guest speakers Timothy Simon, Commissioner of the California Public Utilities Commission, and California Assembly Member Ted Lieu of the 53rd District. The conference will also honor and recognize the esteemed careers of the Greenlining Founders Robert Gnaizda and John Gamboa.
The conference has been recognized by both the Presidents of the United States and of the Philippines as well as by the Governor of California as contributing to the growth and development of minority communities in California. The Mabuhay Alliance's mission is "to be the preferred conduit of economic development, through technical assistance between the government, corporations and minority groups in California." near lake forest, IL. they're turning everything into condos. either using the old mansions from the days of "marshall fields" and "gimbels" for offices or simply tearing them down. the top photo is a dislpay of potential houses on the property, they're hung in the library of this really nice old mansion, the bottom are really old oak trees on the property. as dave eggers wrote about lake forest and their trees,
"see, this was a town that really took pride in it's trees. and for good reason; we had some really nice god damned trees. we had signs all over: "tree city usa" we loved those signs"
it's true. my dad was tearing down some of the buildings on this property and they had spacial notes from the lake forest tree comittee or some bullshit, that at all costs the tress must be spared. hard to do when you're tearing down a 60-80 foot tall chapel that's litterally 5-10 feet from the 200 year old oak trees.

One of my favorite shows ever. The humor was unstoppable, maybe only equal to the Office's humor.
Stupid TV bastards canceled it after three seasons, though. Still, a great show that I rewatch from time to time.

Kake is the only rural community of its size in Southeast Alaska that completes their own Strategic Economic Development Plan. On May 6th, 2015 the committee met and brainstormed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats their community faces. This committee includes a diversity of community partners including the local tribe (Organized Village of Kake), local corporation (Kake Tribal), the city, school district and local business leaders.
The plan that is built from the brainstormed input will be the fourth Strategic Economic Development Plan written for Kake. This document helps set priorities for the community to better focus efforts on building a stronger economy and a more self-reliant village.
The plan is written with assistance of Michael Hibbard and Robert Adkins from the Institute for Policy Research and Innovation of the University of Oregon.

This is part of my design process for the final rhino line drawing poster for my animal campaign. These were the development pages of my continuous line work where I explored how I could improve my initial pen drawings to be used on posters. I mainly experimented with using primary colours to create visual impact. Taking this further, I drew far more detailed designs to place in artist copies to add realism and help bring the animals and their plight to life.
