A Detective Hand camera by an unknown maker. A large camera capable of taking 4 x 5 inch glass plates. I am estimating its date of manufacture at the turn of the century, c1890-1905. Made with high quality. The mechanism is very simple where the lever sets that shutter and the button releases it. No tripod socket, so it was intended to only be carried by hand. Only one viewer. the lack of features makes me think it to be an early item from the detective hand camera period. Any information, or guesses on this unique camera would be appreciated.

Testing out my new macro lens. I probably should have dusted the figure's base before taking these photos!
This hard-boiled Frank Sinatra detective outing was a rental mainstay back in the VHS days. The legendary crooner had some star recognition in Korea.
