Nothing but open fields and coal trains in Northeastern Wyoming, as yet another load of coal from North Antelope Mine rolls down Logan Hill for the New Madrid Power-plant in Missouri. Running under the symbol C NAMNMA-168A, this will be the 168th train of the year for the plant.

Reprocessing an old picture... this is perfect for my mood today
Old volcanic cinder cones punctuate the horizon behind the bleak, snow covered lava fields of Iceland. The ever-setting sun provides little warmth.
I had heard that name before from stories my gran used to tell me of her travels but I had no idea where it was. In December I decided to plan a little road trip to Cape Town which included a stop to find little gems in the Karoo and the Valley of Desolation jumped out at me. We ended up staying in a beautiful mystical little town called Nieu Bethesda which we fell in love with immediately. We headed to Graaff Reinet at sunset to see the balancing columns of Dolerite which makes up the Valley of Desolation also known as ‘Cathedral in the mountains’. Its that type of view that makes you want to stop, sit down and just gaze in silence and awe.

Desolate, it really is one of the few single words that can be used to describe Rannoch Moor, one of the most incredible and wild parts of Scotland. This is the kind of location that makes Scotland the unique country that it is, from its very built up and densely populated central belt to the mountainous west highlands it is so diverse in so many ways. Nature really has packed an awful lot of interest into such a small country, no wonder we call it, "The Best Wee Country In The World."
