Through the looking glass?

A driveby.....

Marshlands, near the Delaware Bay

These are the remnants of a forest that burned down about a decade ago. It's essentially located in the middle of huge moorland; giving it even more of a desolate impression.

a small house hidden in a forest

The long path forward during a lonely hike. There is some sense of peace to be found in the tranquil desolation of the giant sand dunes on the eastern fringe of Lake Mungo. The winds over southern inland Australia have been blowing from the western quarter for millions of years and driven these ancient sands slowly east. Exploring places like this is a constant reminder of how short ones time is on this planet when confronted with the obvious impact such small geological forces such as the light breeze on your face has when compounded over thousands of millennia. The dunes originated from a lost inland sea many hundreds of kilometres to the west. The sand dunes in front of me are over 40m in height and stretch in continuous arc for approximately 40km. A great place to explore. Definitely worth the aching muscles next day.

A FROZEN RANNOCH MOOR

EXPLORE Feb 28, 2013 #317

This morning we went to Llyn Llech Owain Country Park a few miles away from home.. I chose this as my POD because I felt quite desolate myself when the basket on my ability scooter fell off and I ran over it and its contents inc. two Canon L series lenses and my specs which were in a soft spongy case 😬

Thankfully they were undamaged , apart from the basket. Huw rang the Mobility Shop to see if they had any in stock, hoping to pick one up on the way home. They didn’t - but he ordered one elsewhere asap we got home. I think that the word ‘desolate’ suited my mood at the time because I need that basket tomorrow to go bird watching in Cardiff Wetlands whilst Huw is in meetings. In the grand scheme of things – no harm done.

I tried to convey the mood by converting to Mono then adding a Lightroom Preset

The sorrows and anxieties of the world are relentless and never ending. I hope after my life God let the mortals be with their love .

Wishing for the ordinary life, walking alone and I feel both are burning and cold. Thanks to you for leaving a drop of warmth for me to enjoy. You can’t measure the torrents rushing through my heart. I bury my love and hate in to the earth to gain peace. My restless heart running towards the light of the lone flame.

The full moon desolate the night.

Reeds emerging from an isolated pond at one of the country parks. The reflections were magical and the water super still. I was in awe at the structures and textures and how they reflected themselves on the water.
