DES and the Dilemmas of Modern Medicine.
In this important book, Drs. Apfel and Fisher demonstrate how explosive technological advances, physicians' unconscious fantasies of heroism, and the urging of patients, among other factors, combined to produce the Diethylstilbestrol DES disaster-a massive tragedy that could occur again in any area of medicine.

Detail shot of the theater's gorgeous facade and marquee.
The Des Plaines Theater opened in 1926 as a vaudeville palace under the ownership of the Polka Brothers. The architects were Betts & Holcum, who created its interior in lavish Spanish Baroque style with seating for 1,000 patrons, an orchestra pit, and a grand organ. The exterior was Art Deco style, complete with a brightly colored, patterned terra cotta façade.
This theater spent a couple decades awkwardly split into 2-screen format, but has since been returned to its original configuration.
Crac des Chevaliers, is a Crusader castle in Syria and one of the most important preserved medieval castles in the world. The site was first inhabited in the 11th century by a settlement of Kurds; as a result it was known as Hisn al Akrad, meaning the "Castle of the Kurds". In 1142 it was given by Raymond II, Count of Tripoli, to the Knights Hospitaller. It remained in their possession until it fell in 1271. It became known as Crac de l'Ospital; the name Krak des Chevaliers was coined in the 19th century.
