GoogleServe 2010: 6,000 employees around the world and 3,000 in the Bay Area volunteered during the 10 days of GoogleServe 2010. HandsOn Bay Area developed and managed projects at 32 sites for local Googlers.

This project took place at Alameda Point Collaborative's Community Garden, where formerly homeless families can plant their own plots of vegetables or flowers. Googlers cleared the grasses (which grew quickly this year due to heavy and late rains), planted a native garden, cleaned out the chicken coop and shed, and revitalized a cob structure.

Creating A Cafe

A superior design and design plan are essential for owning a great restaurant. Many entrepreneurs would say that their desire small business is going to be to own their very own restaurants. Restaurants are good companies which can be incredibly gratifying. The mere truth that people goto a restaurant to take in is already something to cherish. It truly is like having people within your property every once in a while craving to receive the home baked goodies. A successful restaurant will probably need a excellent layout and design program. Style and layout plans depend on different elements which will come along with impact the last decisions later on. The truth is that the output signal of the design plans may absolutely impact the good results of their dining establishments. We often go to a different restaurant plus they presume to themselves"they should have placed that plant elsewhere, it disturbs the fantastic view" or"that I need that they hadn't placed too much strain ." These are certain smallish things that really can accumulate and can end up impacting the visitors to go to the other side of the road at which the next restaurant is currently calling their own tummies.

This is a Gatsby themed flyer for a dance company I work with. I just wanted to draft a few ideas for them without spending too much time. If you pay close attention I redesigned the two letter initial-logo into four T's (to match the tour T's). I'm not sold on the font placement but that's alright~ I'd be redesigning the entire golden structure anyways. I wouldn't want to copyright infringe or anything :)

U.S. Architectural Visions for the Western Hemisphere

By Robert Alexander González

www.designingpanamerica.com/

"Late in the nineteenth century, U.S. commercial and political interests began eyeing the countries of Latin America as plantations, farms, and mines to be accessed by new shipping lines and railroads. As their desire to dominate commerce and trade in the Western Hemisphere grew, these U.S. interests promoted the concept of "Pan-Americanism" to link the United States and Latin America and called on U.S. architects to help set the stage for Pan-Americanism's development. Through international expositions, monuments, and institution building, U.S. architects translated the concept of a united Pan-American sensibility into architectural or built form. In the process, they also constructed an artificial ideological identity—a fictional Pan-America peopled with imaginary Pan-American citizens, the hemispheric loyalists who would support these projects and who were the presumed benefactors of this presumed architecture of unification.

Designing Pan-America presents the first examination of the architectural expressions of Pan-Americanism. Concentrating on U.S. architects and their clients, Robert Alexander González demonstrates how they proposed designs reflecting U.S. presumptions and projections about the relationship between the United States and Latin America. This forgotten chapter of American architecture unfolds over the course of a number of international expositions, ranging from the North, Central, and South American Exposition of 1885–1886 in New Orleans to Miami's unrealized Interama fair and San Antonio's HemisFair '68 and encompassing the Pan American Union headquarters building in Washington, D.C. and the creation of the Columbus Memorial Lighthouse in the Dominican Republic.

Robert Alexander Gonzalez is the 2010-2011 Cejas Scholar at Florida International University, School of Architecture. A historian and registered architect, Gonzalez is the founding editor of the bilingual journal Aula: Architecture & Urbanism in Las Américas, which is devoted to the architecture, urbanism, and public art of Latin America and U.S. Latinos."

THE short road on the right—Lothair Road South—is the first of 22 intersections on the right (East) side of the road.

There are roads going off to the left, or west, but they number only two or three and are short cul de sacs:

► Railway Approach – leading to Harringay railway station

► Hampden Road – by the Wightman Road Mosque and leading to Hornsey railway station

► Denmark Road – leading to a number of residences near the northern end

HERE, the carriageway both rises and turns around a largely blind corner. Over a bridge, with walls.

(in Defensive Driving, one is taught to bear in mind a possible escape route. There's none here).

Near the middle of the photo, one can make out the council's *original* Magic Safety-Paint line marking a short cycle lane.

The initial cycle lane was several inches wide, but not enough inches to represent a serious attempt at safety. Following complaint, the lane was widened and protection was slightly enhanced by Armadillos, the intermittent rubber bumpers that are visible (close-ups to follow).
