Better large.
Using the GIMP, created a new white layer, setting opacity at about 90%. Then made a bilinear black to white custom gradient and touched up a few key spots with the eyedropper and paintbrush. Hid the layer, activated the background, and used the Focus Blur plugin (better than a gaussian blur) with the gradient layer as a depthmap and a radius of 10. Touched up curves and saturation.
Compare with the original.
The flower in your image is a Gerbera Daisy (Gerbera jamesonii and hybrids).
These are members of the Asteraceae family, which also includes sunflowers and asters. Gerberas are widely cultivated as ornamentals and cut flowers, and they come in a wide range of colors (reds, pinks, oranges, yellows, whites).
Key Features Visible in the Photo
Petals (Ray florets): Long, narrow, and radiating outward, here in a strong red-pink shade.
Central Disc: Composed of many small disc florets, dark at the base with yellow-green styles protruding. This composite structure is characteristic of daisies.
Texture: Water droplets highlight the ridged structure of the ray florets.
Inflorescence: What looks like a single “flower” is actually a composite head (capitulum) of hundreds of tiny florets.

Family: Asteraceae (Daisy family).
Genus: Gerbera.
Species/Hybrids: Most garden and florist types are complex hybrids, often derived from Gerbera jamesonii (Barberton Daisy, native to South Africa) crossed with other species.
Blooming Season: Spring through fall, but greenhouse cultivation allows year-round availability.
Habitat: Native species prefer warm, subtropical to tropical climates; cultivated worldwide.

Couldn't resist the temptation of manipulating one of the original shots. It had such a glow in the background and it made me think of one of those alien landing scenes. Thanks to PS the aliens landed virtually at the Photostage Launch Event.

Wading In, Branching Out - IMRAN™
We had such a fun filled, water splashed, day when Debbie Diaz and I had spent a day jet skiing on Tampa Bay, Florida. There was literally no one else visible on the water for miles. We took turns taking pictures while wading in the water near these fallen trees and branches.

We finally made it down to Angry Dumplings Tea in South Knoxville for dinner. We got Boba milk teas; mine, Brown sugar and my wife's, Thai tea.
We both got the Grandpa's noodles and shared an order of the Angry pork dumplings. Both of us brought some soup home with us.

Finally right! I've been stuck on this shot for a while trying to figure out how to do it in post. I had this idea for a while now, and I'm sure I mentioned this before but I'll have this cool idea in my head, and I know how I want it to look but when I get it in post I'm like how in the hell am I going to do this. Ha.
At first I ran everything through photoshop, the photos were flat and I tried to give it as much depth as I could but it just wasn't looking right. So I talked to Stephen (Video/Cinema 4D pro), he had some ideas of how to make the photo section a little more realistic and created a depth map for me. A depthmap is a image channel that contains information relating to the distance of the surfaces of scene objects from a viewpoint (thanks Wikipedia). So he helped me out with that and I stuck all the photos where they needed to be and I'm a lot happier with it now. I'm going to have to learn more about this Cinema 4D program because there's some super cool effects you can apply to your stills. One thing I would have done differently was position myself further away from the wall. I think it would have given the illusion that the photos had more realistic depth instead of being position more in front of me, other than that I liked the way it turned out.
I'm actually kind of torn with the rest of my photos from last years project, I've been sitting on them for way longer than I should be. I think it's because I enjoy working on them so much I don't want it to go away. But I'm on a mission now. I need to get my first 365 project done (19 days into the new year...jeez), and it will be here soon. I might be having 365 withdraw already. It's cool because I'll have more time to put together concepts that are well thought out without having to rush them this year.

A beautiful model in a white skirt and gold sequined gloves, seated on gold velvet. As it's a 3D anaglyph, you will need red/cyan 3-D glasses to see her.
She was a 2D stock photo, which I converted in Photoshop with a depth map. The background and gloves were originally red. See the original image and the depth map on Swell 3D.

I never noticed how alive and dynamic this piece was untill I had the pleasure of converting it. Biggest conversion yet, with over 30 individual depth layers.
I made a heatmap in Photoshop, then used Stereo Photo Maker v.5 to import the depth map and create two stereo composites. Light adjustments where then made.

3D CONVERSIONS AND MANUAL HEATMAPS / DEPTHMAPS
1- Use a scene with defined depth layers
2- Photoshop, add layers by Polygonal Lassoing shapes from Closest (Black) to Furthest (White) ---> Each Shape is it's own layer
3- Save image as seperate file
4- Import Both Images into Stereo Photo Maker
(Original Left, Depth map Right)
5- Go to Edit => Depth map => Make 3D From 2D
6- Adjust Numbers for intensity

Also, I must add, I Polygonal lasso practically everything and very rarely use a gradient other than for exceptions like Roads or water like in this Image:

I also tend to leave them for last to attempt and match the gradient to the surrounding shade.

A quick 3D selfie early morning from Tampa Bay Florida to mark the start of a new year, express gratitude for a milestone of my flying across the Indian and Atlantic Oceans to make America my home 30 years (coming up this week), and salute the NASA spacecraft New Horizons flying by the furthest object humankind has explored in the extreme outer solar system on New Year’s just past midnight. Stereoscopic camera I got in a fire sale.
Decided I would experiment with adjusting focus in post. Using Gimp + GMIC
(gmic.eu/download.shtml) there is a section for stereoscopic 3d, one of which is called depth map reconstruction.
You need to put the left/right on to separate layers in the same photo, you end up with a grey-scale image which is the depth map Then using the focus blur filter (registry.gimp.org/node/1444) you can come up with the two bottom panels, the top right is the original (left-eye) photo.

26/26 30/3D - IMRAN™
The original photo I posted was “26 & 26. Exactly 26 years ago today, aged 26. Throwback Thursday.” Today is 30 Years since this photo! So here it is in 3D on 30 years!
“Selfie in my first apartment in New York City, off the Columbia University campus, facing Morningside Park. That pot of water placed on the radiator was my low cost way of humidifying the room that would get painfully dry from the heating. After a brief search, during which time I spent a few nights with family friends in Queens, I got lucky and found a 3-bedroom apartment in which I had to pay rent on one room, but for the longest time had the whole place to myself. It was awesome. Until of course my now good friend but then ubercool but super annoying ladykiller roommate Todd Randolph showed up in the fall of 1989. Before that, in the summer of 1989, when my parents visited me, we had plenty of room for them to enjoy their stay, and for friends and relatives to visit. I have not been in contact with our other roommate from that time, Jim Malley, since he and I last met around 1994, when he took me to a Yankees game. It would also be great to find the Columbia Law graduate Michael O’Brien, who went to work for Legal Aid back then, who was leaving the apartment after graduating when I moved in. “
You can see a corner of the open Samsonite briefcase my father had gotten me in the mid 1980s. I still have that in NY, as well as one of his, which is a deeper model.

For this 2D - 3D conversion, I have used the depthmap method. This method works based on Photoshop 'Distort' tool and needs a depthmap for displacment of a 2d picture. When you learn this mehod then you will find it so pleasant, fast and easy to use!
I made this on 20 minutes.

This animation was made using two sets of stereo NavCam pictures taken on sol 2742 (23 April 2020) at 5:45 pm local time and a depth map built using this stereo set.
Curiosity rover is at 22m of 12,5 m high Tower Butte,. In the background we see the side of Greenheugh pediment and Mount Sharp.
Matt Damon from The Martian movie was added at the summit of Tower Butte to better grasp the scale.

Le rover Curiosity est situé à 22 m de la butte Tower, haute de 12,5 m. A l'arrière-plan se trouve le flanc du pédiment Greenheugh puis au-delà, le Mont Sharp.
Matt Damon du film Seul sur Mars a été ajouté au sommet de la butte pour mieux appréhender l'échelle.
