What is it about hospitals that make them so depressing?
Is it the circumstances in which you visit them?
Is it that they are so damned bureaucratic and rigidly devoted to the details of administrative procedure?
Is it that they ban photography?
Is it that they started off planned, but evolved into a higgledy piggledy mess?
Is it that they were never planned properly in the first place?
Is it the boring architecture?
I find hospitals very depressing.
I took this picture by the depressing bus stop, whilst waiting to abuse my depressing NoWcard , catch the depressing bus, and head on out of the depressing place.
Libellula depressa
Nom Scientifique : Libellula Depressa (anciennement Ladona Depressa)
Longueur : De 4cm a 5 cm.
Envergure des ailes : 6,5cm a 8cm
Couleurs : L’abdomen du mal est bleu clair. La femelle est plutôt jaunâtre, brune avec des taches jaunes sur les cotes. Les jeunes libellules déprimées ont un corps jaune qui ressemble à la femelle quel que soit leur sexe.

I used to have a girlfriend
known as Elsie
With whom I shared

She wasn't what you'd call
A blushing flower...
As a matter of fact
She rented by the hour.
The day she died the neighbors
came to snicker:
"Well, thats what comes
from to much pills and liquor."
But when I saw her laid out like a Queen
She was the happiest...corpse...
I'd ever seen.
I think of Elsie to this very day.
I'd remember how'd she turn to me and say:
"What good is sitting alone in your room?
Come hear the music play.
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
Come to the Cabaret."
And as for me,
I made up my mind back in Chelsea,
When I go, I'm going like Elsie.

It looks like it will be another depressing tourist season here in Alaska. I was sitting at the usually busy Chevron Station in Tok, and the place looked abandoned. The only bright spot is the fact that some major gold mining is taking place just 20 miles away in Tetlin. That has brought a lot of rugged men into Tok for food and lodging. My understanding is that this mining project will continue for the next few years, so if you find yourself heading to Tok and need overnight lodging - you best call ahead.
La Libellule déprimée (Libellula depressa), est un insecte odonate appartenant à la famille des libellulidés.
Très commune en Europe, elle s'étend jusqu'en Asie centrale.
Longueur du corps : 40 à 48 millimètres.
Cette Libellule doit son nom à son abdomen plat et large.
Les quatre ailes sont brunes à la base.
Dans le cas d'une Libellule déprimée adulte, l'abdomen du mâle sera bleu clair, celui de la femelle, brun et jaune avec des taches jaunes bien visibles sur les côtés.
Les Libellules déprimées fréquentent les cours d'eau lents, les étangs, les mares même artificielles en pleine ville où elles peuvent se reproduire.
Elles ont une préférence pour les points d'eau peu profonds, ensoleillés, à la végétation pauvre.
La libellule femelle pond ses œufs dans les points d'eau précités. L'éclosion, trois semaines plus tard, donnera des petites larves carnassières qui resteront une année dans leur lieu de naissance.
This past Monday, I stopped by a new-to-me beach at Tunitas Creek in Northern California. It was a lovely but depressing experience. Why?
Well, just to the right of the sign is a path to the beach. As I was by myself, the path seemed a bit too steep for yours truly. It was the first time I had ever used common sense in my life, but I was depressed to admit that I am now over the hill –– and some adventures must be avoided.
In some ways a depressing picture on a grey autumnal afternoon as the whole scene depicts the end of an era. The Monmouthshire Railway Society "DMU Demise" railtour is seen in the abandoned Swansea Docks High Level Reception Yard part of the once extensive King's Dock Yards complex. This was the last MRS railtour to deploy a DMU and seating was limited for the fact the remaining 3-car class 116 DMU sets based at Cardiff Canton had been reduced to power twins mostly for use on the Cardiff to Aberdare line and only five set survived by this date. Sets C392 (51134+51147) and C395 (51140+51153) were used on the tour and they only remained in traffic a few more months before all the Cardiff based 116 DMUs were withdrawn.
By 1992 it was also less common to be able to bail off such tours at the ends of lines to take pictures. The railtour was advertised to proceed onto ABP (Associated Britsh Ports) tracks from Burrows Junction as far as King's Dock Communication Bridge East Ground Frame in Swansea Docks but this was as far as the BR inspector deemed safe to take the train on what were disused tracks.
Aquí os dejo este odonato comúnmente conocida como Libélula de vientre plano, decir que se trata de un macho de los muchos que volaban, solo logre una toma de una hembra, que ya subiré en otra ocasión, así como una infinidad de caballitos del diablo.
