The Maryland Army National Guard held a deployment ceremony on Nov. 3 at Camp Fretterd Military Reservation, Reisterstown, Md. for the Afghan national security forces Development Assistance Bureau. Almost 30 members of the ADAB will be serving for approximately one year in Afghanistan. In addition to Maryland’s Soldiers, the team consists of over 40 Soldiers from the 29th Infantry Division. Seven Soldiers from the 228th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade received their combat patches Aug. 7, 2016 in a "patching ceremony" at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. Army Lt.Col. Chris Brown, and Army Command Sgt. Maj. Kenneth Green handed out the combat patches. The combat patch is worn on the right sleeve and signifies that the Soldier has served in a combat zone. The combat patch is believed to have been started after World War II. The 228th TTSB hails from Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Carolina, PR - Soldiers from the 301st Military Police Company (MP CO), US Army Reserve-Puerto Rico, depart on 11 Sept. from the Luis Muñoz Marin International airport in route to their mobilization station on the south of the United States, before embarking their trip to Afghanistan where the Puerto Rican reservist will be conducting detention facility operations.
