Reaching fully operational capacity in 2015, NATO's Medium Extended Air Defense System (or MEADS, for short) quickly replaced the PATRIOT as the western world's primary strategic ground-based air defense system. The program was developed by a multinational team consisting of the Americans, British, French, and Germans, and was designed to address the shortcomings of existing systems across the Alliance, as well as permitting full interoperability between US and allied forces.

MEADS provides a unique mix of ground-mobile air and missile defense against a broad array of adversary capabilities. Greater interoperability, mobility, and a fully 360-degree detection and engagement bubble proves a significant improvement over legacy systems. Designed to accompany both maneuver units, or protect static, high-value targets, MEADS offers the flexibility that no other western system previously could. Truck-mounted system components drive or roll on and off C-130 and A-400M transport aircraft, and are quickly deployable to any theater of operations.

The minimum requirement to engage a hostile target is only one Transporter Erector Launcher , one Battle Management TOC, and one Multifunction Fire Control Radar. As more system elements arrive, they automatically and seamlessly join the MEADS network in a "plug-and-fight" fashion. Because fewer system assets are needed, it permits a substantial reduction in deployed personnel, equipment, or airlift capacity.

By the outbreak of the Second Eastern European War in June 2016, only the United States and German contingents of ZEUS fielded full MEADS batteries. The "plug-and-fight" capability of the system allowed German launcher units to be controlled by the first American Battle Management truck that was forward deployed, rapidly expanding the air defense coverage zone. As the conflict escalated and NATO became more involved in supporting Ukrainian, Slovakian, and Bulgarian forces, these units were able to deploy to the Alliance's southern flank in Czechia within days. By mid-December, Yugoslav advance into Bulgaria had been significantly curtailed by allied airstrikes. With the conflict rapidly turning against the aggressors, NATO leadership grew increasingly concerned about potential retaliatory strikes by Yugoslavia's considerable conventional ballistic missile arsenal. Although the threat never materialized, German and British MEADS units both had successes against enemy Cikavak Alpha helicopters that would conduct hit and run attacks across the border, downing three enemy aircraft by the close of the conflict.

Finally, the whole battery together! Huge shoutout to Ed Diment for helping me track down a bunch of the parts for these models, otherwise it's unlikely everything would have gotten built by BrickFair VA this year.

The 11.49 Worcester Foregate Street to Bristol Temple Meads enters Worcester Shrub Hill. The Castle would only go as far as Gloucester. Later in the day it is due to work to Great Malvern from Bristol and back. It is expected that from the December timetable change,the Castle sets will be concentrated west of Plymouth.

White-tailed eagle making a pass at some carrion. The eagles are fed daily throughout the winter at this site in Białowieża Forest. This not only helps the several pairs in the area get through the winter and increases the chances of them breeding the following year, but also means that they are regular visitors to the hide. We followed strict precautions to ensure they were not disturbed, entering the hide before sunrise and leaving after sunset when the eagles had left to roost.

Operation TEMPERER – the mobilisation plan for military support to the police service in response to a major terrorist attack.

It is an established security plan by the Government which aims to help protect civilians at times of high terror threat when the official national threat level is raised to critical...Military personnel are deployed alongside the police at nominated sites to provide additional protective security. . .They backfilled existing armed guarding roles filled by armed police units, thereby releasing armed police officers to support the wider incident response...During this deployment, soldiers were working under police command and replaced or supplemented armed police officers to guard major sites such as rail stations, Parliament, embassies and Buckingham Palace.

No matter how many EVAs you do, it’s NEVER just casual when you venture outside of the space station. After all, it’s the most extreme environment human beings have ever been exposed to. Shane, the team and myself are focused for round 3 today

"Cobra's aggressive urban assault specialists, the Alley Vipers favor the Ringneck for several reasons. Its height is psychologically intimidating, and can give them access to second floor windows from the roof of the vehicle."

I skimmed the surroundings as I rushed towards the corner of a bank. I took a glimpse around the corner only to find an unpleasant sight. I swung my head back onto the solid concrete.

"Sh*#!" I cursed.

Kyp all confused, "What's the matter?"

"Fhil and Vin..."

"You see I told you we should have left her."

"To die alone?"

"Well I'm sure someone else will eventually take care of her."

"They're all dead Kyp,dead"

"How would you know then huh?"

"These scums are known for their merciless acts."

There was dead silence as the tension reduces, Kyp nods then points at me

"Ok fine, but when we're done with this, you're going to shout me a drink for a whole month Nelson."

I gripped her hands and smirked

"Looks like those credits can finally come in hand."

Then I looked into her eyes and knew that their lives are in my hands and I only have one shot at this.

With the deployment of Earth's Bifrost orbital ring, Mars' Beanstalk space elevator and the Moon's magnetic catapult, the System's logistics are vastly easier and cheaper than in the old days of the dawn of the true Space Age, when expensive and fuel-inefficient chemical rockets were needed to lift payloads into orbit. However, the far-flung nature of the System means that there are plenty of planetside or moonside colonies and outposts which lack such massive infrastructure investments but do have significant gravity wells to climb out of.

The LL-218 Patrick Moore-class of autonomous cargo lifter are one of the primary solutions in use in the System.

A simple reusable nuclear-thermal rocket able to take off and land vertically from a gravity well up to 2/3 Earth standard (or approximately twice Martian gravity), the Patrick Moore rockets are sufficiently efficient that quite a large payload can be lifted for a relatively small fuel mass, and sufficiently flexible in their basing requirements that even the smallest outposts can throw together landing and refueling stations.

~~~
A desperately simple model, but I'm quite pleased with the fact that I can now tile a whole 20x20 square and make a semi-decent small landing pad.
