From the liner notes:
Over the years several demos of ours have made it onto th einternet. I decided to put all the demos of the WINGER music I had on to 2 discs so anyone who is interested can have a listen to the songs as they were before we properly recorded them.
These days I don't make demos, because you always lose the magic of the original inspiration. When it comes to Rock music, I'm a strong believer in capturing the initial inspiration as you are writing it. Back when these songs were conceived we didn't have good enough equipment to do that, so we had to recreate it all in a proper studio. As you'll hear on these demos, that is basicall all we did, recreate the demos that I produced.
There is a raw energy in some of these performances that didn't always make it to the final album version. Of course, recording with a full band is always going to sound better. But in some cases the demos captured an energy that didn't make it to the record.
The first record demos were recorded in an office building at 28th and Park in New York City. Reb and I would get up every morning, take the train from Hoboken NJ, stop at a diner, have breakfast, then power down on song writing and recording all day and late into the night. We wrote all the songs on the first record in about six months.
When it was time to write for the second record, I rented a house up in the hills of Benedict Canyon, LA. Basically, the same thing happened except the whole band got together and jammed out quite a few ideas. Loosen up was one that came out of those jam sessions. Miles Away is a demo from before the first record was even written. Paul had written Miles Away a few years before that. Paul, Ken Mary and I did a demo of four songs in Boulder, CO. This demo of Miles Away came from those sessions, it was 1986 I believe.
When we started writing for Pull I was living back in New York City. Reb and I took the same approach to the writing as always. We sat down with a drum machine and knocked out a bunch of tunes. I had a bad case of writers block around that time so I rented a car and drove about six thousand miles from New York to Miami to Santa Fe and back to New York. In that time I wrote most of the Pull lyrics. I loved Miami and decided to m ove there and we finished the song writing there. Who's The One for example was written in Miami.
And in case anyone is wondering why some songs are not on this anthology, it's because I don't have them. Without The Night is one of those songs that was recorded in the studio during the actual recording of the first record, hence no demo...
For those of you who are interested in this piece of our history, I hope you enjoy the collection.

Fellow photog working with me on a shoot from a couple days ago called me.
"Maybe the 85mm 1.4 lens was a bad choice," he said.
"Why," I asked.
"Well.. you can read 'DEMO' on her eyeballs".
Whaaa?
First time I have seen this.. very very funny ... Many photos with "DEMO" clearly visible in one or both eyes..
The distinction here is songs that have a main release, such as songs on her YouTube Channel and that were included on her initial self-titled record, but that are demos, meaning unpolished versions of these songs.

instead of just classifying texts (anything from movie reviews or
scripts to resume, news articles or blog posts), Textual Analytics
attempts to draw out key concepts and topics, producing analyses that
consist of phrases and key excerpts that convey the flavor of the
text. The demo we saw was impressive, and Textual Analytics is
working with a content producer that is looking for a way to classify
its products before they are released. (It's easy to do collaborative
filtering once a product is in the market, and to predict which users
will like B based on tehir affinity for A, but how do you predict the
product's market "shape" - e.g. that the product *is* A-like and not
G-like - before you have any user data? That's one of the problems
Textual Analytics hopes to help solve.) I really liked the demo,
but I haven't had a chance to stress the system properly.
