Tim concocted these delicious burgers, which were mixed with onion and red jalapenos, and then topped with grilled queso de freir, half-sour pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a horseradish dressing. Crazy blend of flavors, but oh so yummy!
(Also shown: Doc's Draft Hard Apple Cider, and Tim's latest brew, a fiendish porter we're calling "Bete Noir".)
Algarrobina or carob trees are native to the northern Peruvian province of Piura; hence, the healthy and tasty carob is a staple in northern Perú and an obsession in Piura.

I spent the past 2 weeks in Beijing with my hubby. Much has changed since 2006-2007 when we lived there: the skies are blue, the smog is gone and visibility is completely different. I knew China did it's utmost to change Beijing for the olympics but I never thought the change could be long term. The streets were green with trees and pomegranates, sharons and calabash were hanging from electric cords almost as if nature was taking back the city. It was beautiful, even though many old hutongs have been taken down and alien looking modern architecture taking their place. We really look forward to moving back to China.

None of my friends enjoy red beer. In fact, they all think it's disgusting. I had this with my salmon/rice/shrimp/green beans/potatoes dinner, which sort of defeated the purpose of eating healthy. Then again, tomato juice is supposedly really good for you.
I also wanted to mention that I love the Miller High Life bottles.
