Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god.

~Aristotle

I live in that solitude which is painful in youth,

but delicious in the years of maturity.

Solitude is independence. ~Hermann Hesse

Loneliness is the poverty of self;

solitude is the richness of self.

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”

(George Eliot, 1819-1880)

As a contrast to today's weather (misty and rainy) I decided to show autumn's better side. ;-) Have a wonderful day, y'all! :)

Als Kontrast zum trüben und regnerischen Wetter heute habe ich mich entschlossen, lieber die schöne Seite des Herbstes zu zeigen! Ich wünsche allen einen wunderbaren Tag! :)

After the fog dissipated, the sun brought out glorious hues. "A maple leaf is on the coat of arms of Canada, and is on the Canadian flag. The maple is a common symbol of strength and endurance and has been chosen as the national tree of Canada."

Hurrah, Canada! So close, so intelligent.

Thanks for looking! (Cropped only. Monopod.)

Cat 1......In Context

The day had been spent chasing the 37 powered Nth Yorkshire RHTT around her circuit. A heavy band of rain had proved challenging for myself Gav and Bruce but the forecast for clearing skies at the end of the day led us to this spot at Broomfleet looking west. Having all received a soaking we had earned the right to experience this sight as the rain clouds cleared. 37402 heading for Bridlington/Scarborough and York approaching Broomfleet.

Totally organic and from the garden. Simply Delicious.

The theme for “Smile on Saturday” for the 6th of July is “tasty texture”, where the image used must be a photo in which the texture of the food is clearly visible. I must have known this theme was coming, as in May, my partner came home with some home made Italian biscuits from one of the people he is a care giver for. Now, my partner has a very sweet tooth (unlike me) and biscuits don’t last long in our household. He was given about ten, and I just managed to snatch one away, which I put aside, before the rest were hoovered up and eaten in one sitting. A few days later, I decided to try my one salvaged biscuit treat with a nice cup of tea. It was delicious! As I put the partially eaten biscuit down on my Royal Albert “April Showers” square cake plate, I noticed how beautifully textural the biscuit’s innards was, so I decided to photograph it. You know me! Always have your camera handy. You never know when the photograph you took may come in handy: like now! I hope that you like my choice of image for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!

My flickr doesn't seem to be so well this morning so I hope this uploads. We are readying my in-laws today for a move to aged care so I will catch up with my flickr friends tomorrow. I hope your Sunday, whenever it arrives is as bright and breezy as these beautiful flowers.

I collect a great many things, but something you may not be aware of is my collection of vintage powder boxes from before the Second World War, as I seldom have shared photographs of them before.

This delicious example of highly stylised Art Deco packaging at its finest arrived the other week, complete in its original mottled gold presentation box and burnt orange thin card lining which all match the powder box itself. This powder box of 'Olive Rachael' shade of Bellefleur Face Powder is unopened. It was made by Bellefleur Laboratories, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia somewhere between 1928 and 1940. The box is 46milimetres in height and 79 millimeters in depth.
