Night Photography on the Alps

This is definitely my favorite face of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Dolomites), the east side.

I know that does not make much sense because from this angle you can see pretty much just the Cima Piccola (Kleine Zinne) 2.857 m... but, this view reminds me every time the Kubrick's monolith, or whatever it is, an alien object came from deep outer space and planted with force on the ground ready to fulfill in a few millennia drawings and plans to us incomprehensible.

It is obvious that this kind of vision/idea arise practically much more easily at night rather than during a simple daytime excursion. Under daylight we mostly see the greatness of the mountains... mysticism comes when night falls. Yes, the mystery of the night usually helps a lot! The fact of being alone, out there, surrounded only by flying mists, stars, rocks and ever changing shapes in the dark...

As always, the rendering of the starry sky is completely natural, right out of the raw file with minimal contrast and color adjustments, and I don't care if this means going against the current prevailing fashion that seems to require photographers to edit the night skies as if they were cheese graters :-) with razor-sharp details, etc.

I've admired countless times the night sky and it is always an expression of utmost delicacy and smooth impalpable mysticism.

A true Beauty, that perhaps we humans not even deserve to observe... so, in my opinion, one more reason to don't waste it.

Specifically, during the night when I took this picture the presence of low and medium-high streaks of mists was offering a view of the sky even more ethereal, almost like magical and unattainable... as in fact it is :-)

Perhaps the most iconic and picturesque arch in the world standing proud in front of colorful clouds and a beautiful sunset. I love everything about this winter scene, but there's something truly magical about the way the fading light reflects off those mountains in the distance.

A glorious pale Inca Lily.

Alstroemeria is symbolising friendship and devotion.

Resembling a miniature lily, Alstroemeria, often called the Peruvian Lily or Lily of the Incas, was named after its discoverer, Baron Claus von Alstromer, a Swedish baron who collected the seeds on a trip to Spain in 1753.

Today, this popular flower can be found in a range of colours – from white to golden yellow, orange to apricot, pink to red, lavender and purple.

Have a great day and thank you for your time, Magda, (*_*)

Little do I care about the rest; I breathe your passion, embrace the delicacy of your words and come alive. - Virginia Woolf.

It's currently 6:21pm, I have to be somewhere my 7pm and I'm still in my pyjamas with my hair tied up because I decided editing this on a whim was more important than getting ready. Eh, you can't stop creative urges I guess.

This is an overlay for those unsure, from a distance it doesn't look like one to me!
