Deep Black Lake
View of a Hawk (Yastrebinoe) Lake. The lake is in fact a glacier-born crack in the granite rock so it is extremely deep for a small forest lake.
Don't be mistaken - the shot was created in midday ;) I was standing on a 80m high rock above the lake (and the trees) and shooting downwards. Small yellow dots on the black are the birch leaves on the black water.
Tech. info:
-polarizer used
- two shots combined: one for the scene and one for the rock in the bottom of shot to compensate unusual DOF situation (80-m drop)
- no special tricks for the black background :) I'm not crazy to knockout leaves.

Came out of the camera as is. No editing, no filters. This is why I shoot film. Velvia has a stunning ability to capture rich, deep colors. The day I took this, the weather was incredible, with perfectly clear deep blue Colorado skies. The camera was able capture it just as I saw it.

Why these bridges appeal to me must relate to something from my past. Whatever, I can't get enough of them. The usable ones are like covered bridges, few and far between. I enjoy them all. Thanks to "builder24car" whose Images inspired me to track this one down. It is in very good condition and appears to have just been redecked! Sorry, Stan, I couldn't wait!
