The genkan has accumulated a lot of clutter because I haven't been home to keep it neat. This is mainly mail, with a few items from pockets and bags mixed in.
All the chip clips went to the drawer to the right of the stove. I'm not sure that's where they will stay. We'll live with it for a while.

Quick project to build a second hanging bookshelf for my office, which will allow me to declutter considerably.
Time to start putting on the finish. In this case, my usual: a couple coats of Watco, followed by a coat of Butcher's wax.
4 Target bags full of food later...looks much much better. no idea there would be so much extra room.

I decided to declutter the photo studio and let go of equipment I’m not using regularly:
3 x Alien Bees b1600, 640ws AC powered lights, flash and modeling light. Excellent condition.
3 x 15 foot extension cords, like new.
2 x travel soft boxes with dedicated Alien Bees connectors, excellent condition.
1 x AB speed ring for any other brand soft box. like new.
4 x Pocket Wizard Plus II, good, used, some wear-n-tear that does not effect function.
4 x PW Plus II Hildozine Caddy (connects to the PW, then connects to light stand), like new.
3 x PC mini connector cables for PW to AB. excellent condition.
2 x Alien Bees replacement lamps, new. backup for the flash bulb.
2 x Beauty Dish, one white other is silver. not pictured, used, works. bonus!
1 x Gossen light meter, used, accurate, battery door is uncooperative.
1 x trunk to keep everything together (but not for travel). used.
I did travel with the kit (in a different, sturdier trunk) to Mexico once. Everything came home unscathed and has been used since then, primarily at local (indoor) events or my home studio. Only thing not included in the kit is light stands (because that’s photographer’s choice), and a backdrop stand (I have an extra one if you’re interested). Fwiw, the modeling lights are bright enough to be used for video recording, if you’re into that kind of thing.
If you are interested, make me an offer I can’t refuse.
Many packets into their actual containers, including bread flour, poppy seeds, red lentils, cocoa and various spices. Also stuff from the kitchen crap drawer/cupboard: lid of a drink bottle that's been thrown out, spare corkscrew, wine pourer, windy grater thing, fridge egg holder.
The shelves are neater, towels organized, toilet cleared off and medicine cabinet was quickly checked for any expired items.

On the 12th day of my 30 Day Challenge, I dropped off the Donate pile. By the time I loaded all this plus the old desk chair in the car, it was too full to see out the back, so off to Goodwill I went! Then I came home and started the next Donate pile with a few more shirts.
In the bedroom it is best to replace old bedding with neutral bedding. Add lots of pillows to the bed to make it look warm and inviting. Declutter the space of any unneeded furniture so there is a nice flow to the room. Again old lamps and light fixtures replaced with new ones will make the room look great.
28 days into my 30 Day Challenge, and today I spent 10 minutes Dealing with a box of misc filing that I'd been putting off since I Downsized my filing cabinet. 2 boxes of stuff to be sorted has been nagging me, but I just haven't had the motivation to sit down and sort through it all. But today I had 10 minutes to spare, so I spent it sorting and cleared most of the first box. A few things got filed, a few more things got shredded, and most of it got Dumped in a pile for recycling. And when I was done, I was able to consolidate the remains of box 1 with box 2, so now there's only 1 box of papers sitting there nagging me.
Getting to the end of my declutter-flow . Taking the weekend off and starting fresh on Monday. Will finish up by Friday and won't have everything done, but I will have done a lot in the past weeks and that was the goal. Not so secretly eyeing my reward for the effort I put in
work area. much better! still lots of work to do. want to get rid of dresser, but unsure of how i will store my clothes. i am willing to get rid of all clothing except for what is absolutely necessary.
I had possibly the worst night sleep last night I have had in a while. Every so often I have two reoccuring nightmares and they are just awful, last night they happened and I was waking every twenty minutes including twice in tears. This was not good as we had to be out the house before 8 for the table top sale with Mum and Dad. It took ages to set up the table with things we are trying to declutter. We sold some things but not as much as we had wanted at all. I was really quite surprised and how tight and cheap some people are.
It was a traumatic morning for me, not only had I had very little sleep but a child bought a toy which was a radio controlled plastic rat. Now I have an absolute fear of them, I am terrified. He was sending it all around the hall and at one point it came right up to our table, I was pretty much hysterical shaking and almost crying I was so scared. Now this is ridiculous because my logical brain was telling me it is a toy and I was being stupid but OMG it was so lifelike and I was terrified. I have never reacted with such intensity like that.
After the table top sale Mum and Dad came back to the flat for some lunch and then mum was good enough to tidy up the little patch of garden and plant our window box. I had intended to help her but with my back all I could do was supervise. She has treat us to some lovely ornamental purple kale and yellow primroses and although this photo doesnt do them justice, they are lovely.
