Sculpt progress on Deckard - Blade Runner - 1:18 scale. Sculpt featuring a version of Deckard sporting his trench coat. It needed some adjustments to the coat to allow better articulation to the cut in the mid-upper torso, shoulders and elbows. It also needed some finer detailing. Still need to add some additional detailing to the lower half of the coat but other than that this version of Deckard is complete. #bladerunner #rickdeckard #deckard #replicant #repdetect #sculpture #harrisonford

Spinner
"Spinner is the manufacturer of the type of Police flying car in Blade Runner that can drive as a ground car, take off vertically, hover and cruise using jet propulsion much like Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft today.
They are used extensively by the police to survey the population, and its clear that despite restrictions wealthy people can acquire spinner licenses.
It was designed by Syd Mead and has been replicated in films such as The Fifth Element and Star Wars prequel trilogy."

Blade Runner
"Blade Runner is a 1982 science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott, depicting a dystopic Los Angeles in November 2019.
The screenplay, which was written by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples, is loosely based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K Dick. The film itself features: Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, M Emmet Walsh, Daryl Hannah, William Sanderson, Brion James, Joe Turkel and Joanna Cassidy; lead designer: Syd Mead, soundtrack composer Vangelis.
The film describes a future in which genetically manufactured beings called replicants are used for dangerous and degrading work in Earth's "off-world colonies." Built by the Tyrell Corporation to be 'more human than human', the Nexus-6 generation appear to be physically identical to humans — although they have superior strength and agility — while lacking comparable emotional responses and empathy. Replicants became illegal on Earth after a bloody mutiny. Specialist police units — blade runners — hunt down and "retire" (i.e., kill) escaped replicants on Earth. With a particularly brutal and cunning group of replicants on the loose in Los Angeles, a reluctant Rick Deckard is recalled from semi-retirement for some of "the old blade runner magic."
Blade Runner initially received polarized reviews from film critics, some who were confused and disappointed it didn't have the pacing expected from an action film, while others appreciated its thematic complexity. The film perfomed poorly in North American theaters while achieving success overseas. Despite poor early ticket sales, it was adored by fans and academia and quickly attained cult classic status. It gained such great popularity as a video rental, partly due to the film's ability to reward repeated viewing, that it was chosen to be one of the first DVDs to be released. Blade Runner has been widely hailed as a modern classic for its immersive special effects and prefiguring important themes and concerns of the 21st century. It has been praised as being one of the most influential films of all time because of its detailed and original setting, serving as a postmodern visual benchmark with its realistic depiction of a decayed future. Blade Runner brought author Philip K Dick to the attention of Hollywood, and numerous films have since been based on his literature."
Spinners were the flying cars in Bladerunner. This particular prop was actually used in the film and is now hanging above the lobby of the EMP|SFM in Seattle.

There are fighters, bombers, interceptors, gunships and then... something bigger. The 'Duke may look like an old-fashioned Earthling fighter craft, but it is, in fact, the hot-rod, custom built steed of the man known only as Deckard.
An infamous mercenary and gun-for-fire, Deckard travels mostly alone, although sometimes recruits extra crew members to co-pilot or look after his beloved ship.
At home in space as well as atmosphere, the 'Duke packs danger, technology and menace into it's rather large package.
It's size can make it vulnerable, however, to smaller fighters and so Deckard often travels with escort fighters and interceptors.
Length: 19m
Wingspan: 18m
Crew: 1-3, mission dependent.
Armament: 2 High-Output frag-cannons, forward facing.
2 Micro-Mine launchers, wing-tip mounted.

I've been working on the inner doors and deciding how to best utilize the canopy top. The taped area in the back represents what will actually be body colored, (I didn't go to the trouble of taping the far rear, but that will be painted, too). The point of the tape is to outline where the glass will 'end' in the canopy. I will probably use this lightly sanded canopy as a 'buck' or mold to vacu-form a new clear canopy. I will also need to fill the two small holes before doing so.
The LEGO diorama "Police Spinner Takeoff" from "BLADE RUNNER" was fully lit up with LEDs.
Seven patrol lights installed on the top of the Police Spinner incorporate two microchip LED lights each, which blink at different times to give the appearance of rotating lights.
By using 1.6mm x 0.8mm chip LED lights and ultra-thin cables, I was able to incorporate 38 lights by simply sandwiching them between parts without cutting them (with very small gaps).
A bundle of cables runs from the right rear tire area through a gap in the smoke and under the base.
In addition to the Police Spinner, even the VIDPHON, Parking Meters and lanterns were lit up. Also, the stoves in the stalls were flickering.
Deckard (Harrison Ford) places a call to Sebastian's (William Sanderson) apartment claiming to be a friend. Pris (Daryl Hannah) answers the call but hangs up without a word. Deckard enters Sebastian's apartment and searches for evidence or leads.

Bradbury Building, 304 South Broadway, Downtown Los Angeles.
The lobby of the Bradbury became the waterlogged home of toymaker Sebastian, where Deckard (Harrison Ford) is menaced by androids and has the final showdown with Batty.
Outside, it’s an unremarkable red-brick block, but the central courtyard, illuminated by skylights (through which the illuminated blimp is seen in the movie), is a fantasy of wrought-iron grillwork, marble and brickwork surrounding open-cage elevators.
It was a bit decrepit when Blade Runner was filmed, but it’s since been lovingly restored and now houses offices. The ground floor is open to the public.
The Bradbury can also be seen in 1949 Douglas Sirk drama Shockproof; Frank Tashlin’s Richard Harris-Doris Day comedy thriller Caprice (as ‘Paris’); Murder in the First, with Christian Slater (as ‘San Francisco’); Mike Nichols’ Wolf , with Jack Nicholson turning into a werewolf, (as ‘New York’) and, finally, as Los Angeles in both (500) Days Of Summer (it’s the office building where Tom finally attends a job interview) and The Artist (the staircase where George and Peppy encounter each other).
