We took the Historic Florida Railroad from Parrish to Willow, a small ghost town 30 miles south of Tampa. India Rose LOVES trains, the old fashioned carriages made for a bumpy ride. We watched as the train performed a run-around, to push us into Willow station. The ruins of the sawmill and a railroad truss bridge (which was not accessible) are all that remains of the ghost town, which disappeared shortly after the Great Depression. A small museum and the train ride itself make the trip more than worthwhile! Such a unique adventure and the staff were so friendly and informative. Thank you for watching Dear India Rose. India Rose and Mama spent the day learning about percussion instruments, our 3 year old loves music! We learned about maracas, then made some of our own from cups and rice. We looked up cymbals and drums and turned some bowls into a drum set, using chop sticks for drum sticks. We stopped at Freedom Lake Park, for some family time and fresh air. There were so many beautiful birds at the lake, including a Great Blue Heron, A Great Egret and some endangered Wood Storks. (No, I am not a bird expert, I googled them!) India Rose is always being told not to pick healthy flowers, that she should let them grow... So, she spent an hour crawling through the grass, looking for wildflowers that were already broken or bent... Only to give them away to us as soon as she found one. Brubba spent his evening climbing trees.
