Petunia is a genus in the family Solanaceae, subfamily Petunioideae. Well known members of Solanaceae in other subfamilies include tobacco (subfamily Nicotianoideae), and the cape gooseberry, tomato, potato, deadly nightshade and chili pepper (subfamily Solanoideae). It's a flowering plant of South American origin. Petunias can tolerate relatively harsh conditions and hot climates, but not frost. They need at least five hours of sunlight every day and flourish in moist soil and conditions of low atmospheric humidity. Back in 1956 hood ornaments like on this 1956 Mercury were not even thought to be a deadly weapon when striking some poor pedestrian. It was all about beauty back them, however, that all changed in the years that followed. As a 15 year old at the time I have fond memories of the Sunday night television show, The Toast Of The Town, aka The Ed Sullivan Show which was sponsored by Lincoln Mercury, and drooling over all the commercials of "the latest models" from Mercury. The following from Wiki is a little history of the show:
From 1948 until its cancellation in 1971, the show ran on CBS every Sunday night from 8–9 p.m. Eastern Time, and is one of the few entertainment shows to have run in the same weekly time slot on the same network for more than two decades.
Virtually every type of entertainment appeared on the show; classical musicians, opera singers, popular recording artists, songwriters, comedians, ballet dancers, dramatic actors performing monologues from plays, and circus acts were regularly featured. The format was essentially the same as vaudeville and, although vaudeville had undergone a slow demise for a generation, Sullivan presented many ex-vaudevillians on his show.
Originally co-created and produced by Marlo Lewis, the show was first titled Toast of the Town, but was widely referred to as The Ed Sullivan Show for years before September 25, 1955, when that became its official name. In the show's June 20, 1948 debut, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis performed along with singer Monica Lewis and Broadway composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II previewing the score to their then-new show South Pacific, which opened on Broadway in 1949.
From 1948 through 1962, the program's primary sponsor was the Lincoln-Mercury Division of the Ford Motor Company; Sullivan read many commercials for Mercury vehicles live on the air during this period.
The Ed Sullivan Show was originally broadcast via live television from CBS-TV studio 51, the Maxine Elliott Theatre, at Broadway and 39th St. before moving to its permanent home at CBS-TV Studio 50 in New York City (1697 Broadway, at 53rd Street), which was renamed the Ed Sullivan Theater on the occasion of the program's 20th anniversary in June 1968. The last original Sullivan show telecast (#1068) was on March 28, 1971, with guests Melanie, Joanna Simon, Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass and Sandler and Young.

Under the watchful eye of 2 security guards CN L518 switches out Port Hopes Cameco spur on a sunny and windy day. This is a rather interesting delivery being Nuclear Rod Fuel produced for nuclear plants. The tank cars featuring 3 placards and large shields on the ends, with 518 being restricted to 35 Mph while transporting it.
Not to mention the beauty on point being GTW 6224 a well worn and faded oldie. Starting life on the DT&I and later on to the GTW. Many miles under its belt and still holding its own.

Eastern Coral Snake- Micrurus fulvius

My first snake of 2016 was this absolutely gorgeous Eastern Coral Snake. Incredibly beautiful, and incredibly deadly. The most venomous snake in the US, but also one of the most shy and docile. I'm still amazed I actually managed to find one
I don't know if Zib was inspired by the Corona Virus for this set, but it sure looks like it.

An alligator at Brazos Bend State Park, Needville Texas. I took this beauty while hiking around the Texas State Park.
As shown in this picture the weather in the Grand Canyon varies according to the elevation it falls on, snow in Arizona usually occurs at 6000 feet or higher with rain taking over below this elevation.
The South rim of the park can get up to 60 inches of snow annually while the northern rim can get upwards of 144 inches of snow, below the rims and along the river you would be lucky to get 8 inches of rain a year with snow being unheard of normally.
The Canyon is its own micro climate temperatures can vary from 100+ degrees in summers to -20 in winter but summer is the most deadly to tourists, they are unprepared for the heat so many cases of dehydration/sunstroke are common.

Hi everyone, this is Trevor. Trevor, this is everyone. Trevor & I first crossed paths in Norway back in 2017. He’s a proud native of Flåm, a picturesque little town nestled among the fjords, home to waterfalls, scenic railways, and a thriving population of self-respecting trolls just like Trevor. But despite the breathtaking views, Trevor had itchy feet. Though to be fair that may have just been the lichen. Either way, he was keen to see more of the world.
Over a couple of beers, because most of my best ideas come when drinking beer, we struck up a deal. He’d join me on my European adventures and, if he behaved himself, make the long journey back to Australia with me. Turns out, he was an excellent travel companion! He never snored, never complained, and, unlike a certain wife I shan't mention, never rolled his eyes when I stopped to take yet another photo of him in precarious situations. There are snapshots of Trevor at airports, train stations, castle courtyards, beer gardens, atop Swiss Alps, and generally being as dramatic as only a troll can be.
That said, he does have his quirks. The sun is a no-go. This is understandable considering it has a nasty habit of turning him into a very dull-looking rock. And bridges? Absolutely not. He won’t explain why, but I suspect it involves goats. Gruff ones.
Back in Australia, I didn't see him for a long time. I thought he’d wandered off on another adventure, but it turns out he was that suspiciously lumpy rock in my backyard. So, I brought him inside out of the deadly sunlight, dusted him off and decided it’s time for him to start tagging along again, avoiding sunny days. And potential run-ins with livestock.
Today’s outing took us to The Entrance, a fascinating place where the Pacific Ocean meanders inland and becomes Tuggerah Lake. And I only nearly lost him to the ocean twice. And to a particularly enthusiastic and possibly nearsighted seagull. He just can't wait for his next adventure !

Alligators bask in the sun to warm themselves. They usually do this on the banks of the river, but this particular juvenile was doing it in the middle of a busy state park road. Fortunately, the gator moved away from the road before cars started coming in. It's not common, but I have seen gator/car collisions in the past.

I never tire of the wonderful swirls and curves of the California Corn Lily (Veratrum californicum) one of the false hellebores, native to the high country of the coastal Sierra Nevada range. Boasting striking and tall white flowers, this plant is very Deadly Poisonous, but incredibly beautiful.

Probably the UK's most beautiful jellyfish.
However I wouldn't like to get too close to it's beauty - "Stings from large lion's mane can be particularly dangerous, as the thousands of thin tentacles can each extend to several meters long. " Initially, a sting may result in itching or localised pain that may radiate to other areas of the body, potentially progressing to severe pain within 20 minutes or more.
