The Angel Trumpet (genus Brugmansia), is a genus of seven species of small trees and shrubs in the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

Every part of the angel trumpet is highly poisonous, including the leaves, flowers, seeds and roots.

All contain the toxic alkaloids scopolamine, atropine and hyoscyamine, which are widely synthesized into modern medicinal compounds but are deadly poisonous if used outside a doctor's supervision.

Although every part of the plant is dangerous, the oblong, fruitlike seed pods and colorful flowers pose the greatest risk in home landscaping because they are visually appealing to curious children and because they contain the highest concentration of toxic compounds.

If you touch any part of the plant, don't rub your eyes or eat without washing your hands.

The Eastern Amberwing (Perithemis tenera) is a species of dragonfly in family Libellulidae. It is very small, reaching a total length of no more than 25 mm. The males have orange or amber wings. Both genders have a red pterostigma.

The common name refers to its eastern range, although this dragonfly does extend westward well into the central part of the United States.

The scientific name, tenera, means delicate and alludes to its small size.

I found this one and its prey in my "Boat Slip" in Polk County, Florida.

Yellow oriental paper-wasps (Polistes olivaceus)are building their nest on a Bougainvillia in our front yard garden corner. Worker wasps are found busy throughout the day to build the nest. I found this wasp on a day lily bud in our terrace garden. It was busy in choosing and collecting building material.

Male otter setting back out in search of further prey.

One of my favourite wildlife sightings has to be the gorgeous otter. On a cold wet January morning this little chap brightened up our day.

We were lucky enough to be entertained by him for over an hour as he made his way through the local fish population.

The Great Lakes, just like the cold (and all of nature, really), should be respected like a wild animal. It’s a living thing that will kill you if you aren’t careful and prepared. This holds true even more in the winter. It can be a deadly, wild beast.

The beach in this photo ends just a bit past where the sand is and the rest is all ice buildup from the waves. It’s been an especially windy winter and we’ve been enjoying watching the waves crash up against the ice. As tempting as it is to walk out on the ice to get a closer look at the waves, we never take the risk. Falling through a week spot would not end well.
