About Georgetown, Washington DC
Georgetown is a historic neighborhood, commercial, and entertainment district located in northwest Washington, D.C., situated along the Potomac River. Founded in 1751 in the state of Maryland, the port of Georgetown predated the establishment of the federal district and the City of Washington by 40 years. Georgetown remained a separate municipality until 1871, when the United States Congress created a new consolidated government for the whole District of Columbia. A separate act passed in 1895 specifically repealed Georgetown's remaining local ordinances and renamed Georgetown's streets to conform with those in the City of Washington.
The primary commercial corridors of Georgetown are the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue & M Street, which contain high-end shops, bars, restaurants, and the Georgetown Park enclosed shopping mall, as well as the Washington Harbour waterfront restaurants at K Street, NW, between 30th and 31st Streets. Georgetown is home to the main campus of Georgetown University and numerous other landmarks, such as the Volta Bureau and the Old Stone House, the oldest unchanged building in Washington. The embassies of France, Mongolia, Sweden, Thailand, and Ukraine are located in Georgetown.

The "black israelites" were outside the Gallery Place China Town metro. Very hatefilled people! They didn't seem to mind me taking pictures though!
This is on Roosevelt Island in DC, about a week or so before my due date. We went hiking to see if we could shake that baby out.
My shoe collection - I never thought I would have more than 2 pairs, but it seems that I been collecting them.

The above image is a scan from an original Kodachrome™ slide. The default size is 2000 x 1250 pixels, so clicking on the photo will enlarge it for better viewing.
The original image comes from my slide collection, amassed over the past 40+ years. They are a combination of my own photographs and ones acquired over those years.
I created this Photostream in 2017 for the purpose of holding my slide collection as an archive, as otherwise they would just remain in binders and boxes, not being enjoyed by anyone, myself included.
Comments are welcome.

From "Brer Rabbit's New Orleans Molasses Recipes," 1948, by Brer Rabbit Molasses.
*Gingerbread Peach Shortcake—Luscious…and unusual!*
1 ¾ cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ginger
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
3 tablespoons shortening
½ cup sugar
1 egg
½ cup Brer Rabbit Molasses
½ cup boiling water
1 pint heavy cream
4 cups sliced peaches*
Sift together flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, salt and baking soda. Cream together shortening and sugar; add egg; beat well. Add molasses. Add flour mixture; beat smooth. Gradually add water. Pour into 2 greased 8” layer cake pans. Bake in moderate oven, 350 degrees F., 30 minutes. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pans. Beat cream until stiff; flavor with vanilla extract and sweeten if desired. While cake is warm, place cream and peaches between and on top of cake layers. Serve immediately.
*Canned peaches or sweetened fresh peaches may be used.
