"When I am an old woman I shall wear loads of purple;

With a red hat which doesn't go, or maybe a blue one, woohoo!

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves;

And satin sandals, and some pretty purple lace knickers too!"

These artisan wire-wrapped earrings are an ode to the colour purple.

Lush whilst remaining exceedingly lightweight, they've been fashioned like the letter 'S' and royally flushed with a procession of Polished Dark Red Garnet Rounds. Peppered within their handcrafted midst are wee 14K Yellow Gold Filled Seed Beads, all leading to a dainty corsage a-blooming with Azurite Malachite, Colombian Emeralds, Green Tourmaline, Rare Purple Garnet Briolettes and beautifully faceted Carved Blue Sapphire Leaves.

Note that fabulous, let me say it again, f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s AAA Flawless Laser Cut Amethyst Spade Focals which are, without a doubt, the leading stars in this ensemble.

You saw it here first folks

At 04:00, I awoke to the high-pitched sound of a mosquito flying near my ear. I swatted around my head and the squeal stopped. As I lay still, listening to my heartbeat and waiting for his return, the damage reports started rolling in and I realized I had already been victimized a half dozen times by the tiny vampires and I pulled the sheet over my head with an exasperated huff.

Moments later the silence was broken by the squeal of tiny Culicidae wings. That was it. I was up. I rolled out of bed and grabbed a weapon (known as the "t-shirt of death" (t-sod) by generations of past mosquitoes who had previously violated my airspace) from the drawer in one fluid motion. I pulled the comforter up over my sleeping wife's face to shield her eyes and flicked on the lights. I half-crouched as my eyes adjusted to the now bright room. Anxiously, I looked about in the early morning silence.

A long moment passed and then I saw them... two of the little bastards. One at twelve and the other at two o'clock, both trying not to make eye-contact.

Circling around the bed, I moved slowly and methodically while taking aim. A quick upward thrust of the t-sod and a tiny mark on the ceiling signalled my success. One down.

I spun my sights around only to find empty sky... er... wall. Just then I noticed a spot of fresh blood on my pillow and the wreckage of a mossy I had obviously downed in my half-sleep-hand-swatting attack. I knocked it to the floor and wheeled about looking for more.

There was only one remaining. He had moved high above the wardrobe and clung to the wall. I fired. Missed. Now, my t-sod was lost behind a stack of hat boxes on the wardrobe. After a moment, a nearby step-stool facilitated its return to the ready. I took aim and fired again. A hit! I watched as the enemy careened in wide arcs, unable to regain control, eventually crashing to the bedroom floor.

The post-battle silence was deafening and I decided I was fully awake and should make the most of the time by venturing out to shoot a sunrise, which is not easy these days as sunrise happens at around 05:30. I dressed, caffeinated and grabbed my gear. It was a nice morning with a variety of cloud layers and calm seas. I ended up shooting almost 200 frames and got a number of nice additions for my Malta book.

Hope your weekend is going well. Watch your six.

My poor Oreo sunshine is sick. We're not sure with what, yet. She's sure been sleeping a lot and losing a unsafe amount of weight. This whole weekend she wont leave me alone for two seconds. Always laying on my chest. giving me her special nose kisses as seen above and more. If she doesn't seem better in a few days, on my Mom's day off we're taking her into the vet. Hopefully it is just something that will blow over, we're not really sure at this point. All we've also noticed is the cats, both Oreo and Scooter are a lot more active then they typically are.

Sometimes the rule of thirds can be a confusing thing. Especially if its something you don't do everyday (for example, me).

But today, I went out of my comfort zone & accomplished the fast that is keeping the rule of thirds.

Since 2012 it is quite usual to see British Transport Police armed with their 5.56mm LMT-CQB carbines and 9mm Glock 17 pistols. It's a necessity in these uncertain times, but you can't help feeling that it still doesn't quite sit right in a country which has prided itself on a largely unarmed Police Service. The reality is that there probably are not enough weapons trained officers to deal with a major situation should it arise. Unfortunately all defence cuts - including those to law and order - could well have serious consequences one day.

Long weekend holiday celebrations were completed by playing with fireworks and sparklers on Jeff's roof. So much fun!

I put two images together to make this. It's not perfect, but I still like the outcome.

Day 140 of 365

May 19, 2008

(Project 365)

Best friend stayed over last night so she could catch an early flight this morning. Good wine, good company and she left me her kitteh! Lovin it!

I was playing with my friends daughter in the playground & took a couple of shots. There were some really cool carved Australian animals including the wombat.

Wombats are actually very aggressive creatures and would not take kindly to being played with.

Alles Gute zum Geburtstag! (He said he always wanted some lederhosen.) ;)

I am exhausted!! & I'm on my way to getting sick :/ Bleh.

1. We went to Sea World today - I regretted not taking my zoomie lens :/ But still got some fun pictures! Nephews looove Shamu because I've been showing both of them the music video of MJ (since both were younger..the youngest one got really hooked when I was in India earlier this year) singing the Free Willy theme song and there's plenty of "shamu" in that one so they were really excited. I made this super contrasty bc it looked better. Took so many pictures but oh so tired!

2. Watched the midnight show of Pirates yesterday and it was sooo good :) Definitely better than the 2nd and 3rd, but nothing beats the first one.

3. My bff is graduating tomorrow morning (nurse practitioner!) so I'm off to sleep

Have a great weekend all!

I was playing with my friends daughter in the playground & took a couple of shots.

This one is a possum which are in abundance in this park.

Day 140 of 365 (Year Two)

Week 70, Assignment 2 for Take A Class With Dave and Dave.

Trance. We were watching a Fatboy Slim video and Ericka suggested this one. I think it could mean a lot of things to alot of people, and you know how we enjoy those.

Apparently Trance is a type of music too. I didn't know that. I looked it up and downloaded some tunes. After listening to two or three songs, this is how I felt. I think I'm gonna stick with my country music.

wearing: dirndl i thrifted in california; blue woven belt from savers; socks from sock-dreams; thrifted blue suede wedges; glass bubble necklace from moma store that braxton got for my birthday this year; pink sweater i got at a street fair in montreal; unseen tiny key earrings i made with old keys i got at a yardsale.

Day 140 of 365. I am fortunate that I don't live with a lot of pain, but when arthritis decides to attack my fingers, I'm glad to have Ibuprofen.

Getting crowded...

#day140 #140of366 #Namethatplant A couple of years ago I received a sachet of 'seeds for bees'. I can't remember what it came with; but I planted them. I don't know what this is, and I can't seem to find any help on plant naming sites. Any guesses? It looks like part of the thistle family; but beyond that, I have no idea.

day one-hundred-and-forty.

"When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side

Of the road, turn out the lights, get out and look up at the sky

And I do this to remind me that I'm really, really tiny

In the grand scheme of things and sometimes this terrifies me

But it's only really scary cause it makes me feel serene

In a way I never thought I'd be because I've never been

So grounded, and so humbled, and so one with everything

I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything

Rock and roll is fun but if you ever hear someone

Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun

Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky

Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye

I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye

When I saw Geneviève I really liked it when she said

What she said about the giant and the lemmings on the cliff

She said 'I like giants

Especially girl giants

Cause all girls feel too big sometimes

Regardless of their size'

When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side

Of the road and run and jump into the ocean in my clothes

*I'm smaller than a poppyseed inside a great big bowl

And the ocean is a giant that can swallow me whole

So I swim for all salvation and I swim to save my soul

But my soul is just a whisper trapped inside a tornado

So I flip to my back and I float and I sing

I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything

I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything

So I talked to Geneviève and almost cried when she said

That the giant on the cliff wished that she was dead

And the lemmings on the cliff wished that they were dead

So the giant told the lemmings why they ought to live instead

When she thought up all those reasons that they ought to live instead

It made her reconsider all the sad thoughts in her head

So thank you Geneviève, cause you take what is in your head

And you make things that are so beautiful and share them with your friends

We all become important when we realize our goal

Should be to figure out our role within the context of the whole

And yeah, rock and roll is fun, but if you ever hear someone

Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun

Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky

Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye

I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye

I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye

And I don't wanna make her cry

Cause I like giants"

11 March 2008

Even though I look upset, I was actually really happy. The sun was out... hence the scrunched up face... and for the first time it actually felt spring-ish outside. Don't get me wrong, it's still freezing out, but there was something different in the air today, it was nice.

OH... How could I forget! This is the scarf I've been working on FOREVER! I finished knitting it up last night. It's a reversible cable, three on one side and two on the other.

Day 140

Today's group in Flickr Group Roulette, is Founder's Day.

Most 365ers are honouring the founder of the 365 Days Project's group, Chris Maverick. Everyone is picking from his 365 Days shots and copy catting one.

I chose this one, because with Jaymi coming home from camp today and my mother-in-law coming over for most of the afternoon & evening, it was a busy day and I didn't have time to attempt a more complicated picture. I like this one anyway - it's nice and simple.

This is also the 1st of 5 things that you will learn about me, for GTWL's theme for this week - 5 New Things.

On this hand (my right), usually you will see my Mom ring. When I was pregnant with my daughter, during the last 1 or 2 months of my pregnancy, I could no longer wear my wedding ring because my fingers were getting too swollen. So as a surprise for me, my wonderful husband went out and bought me a special diamond ring to wear on my right hand's ring finger (because my wedding ring wouldn't fit properly on my right hand at all). That ring was special also because when you look at it from the side, the gold is shaped like the word "MOM". Every time I look at that ring, I remember my pregnancy, and the excitement of becoming a new mom.

Our local metro station is a Victorian train station. The functioning part of the station is restored and in daily use but the areas to the left and right of this are rusting away - sad for the station but great for photos!

Please hurry up and grow!

I had a throbbing headache and my lovely wife was kind enough to be a comforting pillow for me. Unfortunately I fell asleep while Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was on the tube so naturally I woke up with a hankering! I had about 10 minutes to make it to Oberweis. As you can see from my shit eating grin I made it!

Mmm turtle sundae!

Day 140 of 365 (Year Three)

Week 123 Assignment 2 for Take A Class With Dave and Dave.

Rocks ~ How do you make this interesting? Personally, my plan is to visit the Oregon coast. :-)

Tonight we made pet rocks. Savanah has a "how to" book report to do this week in which they had to find a craft book and do one of the crafts in the book. They then have to fill out the book report form and explain the steps to making the craft. She has been going over the book for the past few weeks and finally decided on pet rocks. The ones in the book are rather simple so we decided to embellish the project a bit.

Unfortunately, the craft glue I got isn't working so well on the rocks so I have to get some glue sticks for the hot glue gun and redo the feet. We are also going to add a mouth (pip cleaner) and an umbrella or rather a parasol. On a whim I picked up some of those small drink umbrellas and when Savanah saw them she wanted to add it to her pet rock.

We had fun making this guy, although I had to do a bit more of the gluing than I would have liked. I got the quick dry tacky craft glue, but it really doesn't dry that quick and Savanah was having issues with getting the stuff to stick. I'll help her with the hot glue gun tomorrow to fix this little guy up, but I'm hoping she'll do a bit more of the gluing than she did tonight. She tends to get a bit impatient when things don't work out exactly as planned. She definitely takes after me in that regard.

Also for Class with Dave. How do you make a rock interesting? Add eyes, feet, hair and a tail! LOL
