Doors Open 2018 Walking Tour of Industrial Peterborough. Our guide, Don, explains the significance of this property, including the old dairy behind him, formerly owned by Baskin-Robbins. Before that it was owned by Silverwood and before that, Pure Dairy.

HFF!

Thank you for your comments and faves:) Have a great weekend!

365 Days

So I said Maisie is sweet, and Maisie is fluffy, and Maisie is soooo lovely... But also Maisie has very sharp nails. Of which I forgot when I started playing with her. If you haven't noticed - there's a large plaster over my finger, due to it being split in half... Ok, maybe not 'split in half' :) but there's this long straight line of bloody scratch on it. The Cat. What was I thinking, that the white ball of fur would not want to attack my hand when I was exposing it for a 'fight'?!

That was our last day at Maisie's a very sad one. I had to explain to Klara what 'sixth sense' means :) Because apparently Maisie has one! She was by the door looong before we started packing and she was meowing a lot. When I started packing she was all over me (she's not that friendly normally) and she was watching us carefully. She sensed we were ready to go, so she sat by the front door - possibly to block it. Klara was in tears. Maisie meowed vigorously and it was the summary of my feeling towards 'normality' that we were returning to after the long weekend away....

sometimes we get so busy with the cares of this world that we forget which way is up. this picture is dedicated to those people out there who are doing their best to do right, but sometimes go wrong. continue to listen for the voice of the Lord, and when you hear Him, do as He says to do. practice obedience.

John 2:5

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

1 Samuel 15:22

. . . . Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.

Found this Mini with eyelashes this morning, then slid it a bit!

Day 125 ~ 365: the 2013 edition

My lilies are coming open all at the same time now. It's a heady perfume they spread around the house. I just hope my husband can live with it. He's a bit allergic I guess, as he gets a headache easily. But I'm trying to keep them away from him, so hopefully it'll be ok :)

This is intentionally shot overexposure. That deep orange and purple in the middle of the pure white is just the most beautiful thing! Cropped for additional effect. I'm quite happy with the result myself.

I hope you've had a good Wednesday. The week is in the half and soon we can sigh tgif.

Still sunny, smiley happy days :)

Please view this on black, it's worth it! Just press L on the keys or click the shot.

So i was flipping thru channels and i saw old wrestling on TV... Made me think back to those days where the posters were put up all around town on the big fight and it always had some dude(the champ) with like a damn tiger around his neck..... Whooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I'm a limousine ridin', jet flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin' son of a gun. WOOOO!! ( Rick damn Flair)

This old car sits at a car dealership/sales place a block up the street from us. I believe it still runs, because they move it from the parking lot to the street from time to time, although I've never seen it running myself. Bunny doesn't see what all the fuss is about. She's pretty sure she can outrun it and get where she wants to go faster without it. You've gotta love the character!

You can read more about Bunny at TalesAndTails.com.

Taken at the Dye Version booth at the Brampton Quilt Guild show today. I bought three metres of Jane's wonder hand dyed fabric.

this weekend i went home to mn and stayed with my friends family, their house was absolutely amazing.

it was such a release. it was like freedom, to be able to go back to a norm. i miss the cities soooo much, it felt good to be home.

Today I've been to the "Jack in the Green" in Hastings. So many people put in such a lot of effort in making their costumes, like this lovely chap.....you can just about see his smiling eyes under all the make-up and hair :) He's not the Jack....the Jack was slain and that's the start of Summer. It was a lovely day, watching various Morris groups and drummers perform and just sitting back and people watching on a lovely sunny day.

Also for #16 of the 114 pictures in 2014 scavenger hunt "Think Green".

My baby boy loves books and when I read him stories. I recently wrote about it on DadBloggers.com where I'm a contributor and known as the Newbie Dad.

Strobist Style

Nikon D80 in Commander Mode propped up on the ground. ISO 400 1/60 second f/3.5 18mm. SB-800 with Lightsphere +3 on shelf, camera left.

What happens when you're a devotee of Comme des Garçons? You find innate mastery in insane cuts, an intense appreciation of how seemingly impossible colours can come together in such a fluid fashion; and most of all, you find yourself being inspired.

Voila!!! The Debutante.

An experiment that turned out decently, thank god.

I paired 18K Solid Yellow Gold (see those glimmering circlets?) with Oxidised Brass, just to see how they would look together. The wee Labradorite Rondelles nestled amongst all clusters are also coiled with 18K Solid Yellow Gold so you can see hints of shimmer and shine here and there.

That LARGE AND IN CHARGE Labradorite Focal is just awesome. This shot was taken on a cloudy day, just post a 10-hour downpour and yet the schiller is like an Energizer bunny. A single Mystic Apricot Topaz Briolette takes the lead amidst a floral contraption fashioned from Polished Rubies and quite a bit of 18K Solid Yellow Gold Wire.

Clusters are comprised of Prasiolites (in a fabulous Asscher Kite Cut), more Polished Rubies and Polished Sunstone Briolettes. Faceted Ruby Nuggets pose such an amazing contradiction to the smoothness of Polished Labradorite Rounds as they connect everything together.

I added heaps of Vintage Brass Jump Rings for a bit of fluttery movement. Loads and loads of Faceted Sunstone Rondelles and even more Polished Rubies balance out this piece.

The Clasp is a gorgeous Brass Toggle Set.

I was pushed for time and stuck for a photo, so here I am with accompanying fallen tree and dead leaves.

I am wearing a Keffiyeh that I bought during my last 365, in Bethlehem. I was wearing it earlier as I walked through Brampton, prompting an older man to approach me. He said he was interested to see a genuine Keffiyeh and asked where I got it. He went on to say he was a member of a Human Rights organisation and spent three months of each year monitoring the Israel / West Bank border post in Bethlehem.

Back when in 2011 I took some photographs in Bethlehem of the security wall erected by Israel. At 26 feet tall it is a daunting, concrete structure. I didn't like it, how could anyone like it.

When I came back I posted the wall photo, alongside the following statement - 'I hope that in time two can be made one, the barrier destroyed... this dividing wall of hostility'. I think it must be a quote from somewhere as its a bit good by my standards. But, it was still enough to lose a Flickr contact. Someone who commented on virtually every one of my photos in 365:2011. But never did once again, although I continued to comment on his, until I got the picture.

I didn't think I could cause offence to someone who was Jewish, by objecting to a giant wall between peoples. But maybe it was the photo (in comments) of me wearing the Keffiyeh that did it. It is often associated with Palestinian nationalism. But the reason I bought it? It was hot over there. Really hot. Standing in the desert at Qumran in the baking sun with a keffiyeh on your head protects you from the burning heat, and directs what little breeze there is towards your face. I now wear it because it reminds me of a trip of a lifetime.

I do not like illegal Israeli occupation. But I also abhor terrorism carried out in the name of Palestinian independence. I just like people and wish all of them well (bit of a Miss World statement there, but what can you do....). The guy I met in Brampton said that as much as anything, he felt sorry for the young Israeli kids, 18 years old, carrying automatic weapons and manning the border posts. Youngsters with guns, giant walls, fear. None of these are good and that is what I object to. It was a shame that I couldn't have put this across at the time, as I must have caused offence.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Not sure if I like this that much... The birds are kind of pointless there... I feel like I haven't uploaded in forever! Even though I have... Weird...

Yay school will be over soon! YES! Haha... And we'll probably be watching Lord of the Rings or something in school next week and stuff so we won't really have to work hard except for Finals and stuff...

125/365: 2015

Came across this young alligator, whilst walking around a lake today. In fact we saw five of them but this was the closest we managed (or wanted) to get to any of them.

Edit: Just wanted to clarify that the title is just a bit of fun. I am an animal loving vegetarian with a (warped) sense of humour, who would never dream of harming animals or condoning cruelty. No animals were harmed in the making of this photo or the title!

First attempt of my week of iPhone shots. Waiting at the airport for my flight to be called. Shot this with an iPhone 4 and the Camera+ app. Looked much better in the camera. A lot to learn about how to process these shots.

I'm really not happy with how it turned out... I thought I made wings look better, but after staring at them and remaking them hundreds of times I gave up and left them the way you can see them now :)

Anyway this photo is a part of one of my many mini-projects. This one is called 'The Colours' :)

The weekly theme for my P365 group this week is Water!

Now, it may seem strange that I've just done three months straight of water drop shots, and the minute I decide to try my hand at something different, the theme of water comes up!

However, rather than rebuild my water drop rig, I decided to try and do the theme inside my current monthly theme of Somebody's Garden!

It shouldn't be a problem, as it's a bank holiday weekend here, so it's bound to rain for a few days, and the forecast looks promising! :)

Anyway, to get me started with the theme, this is a female blackbird, enjoying a quick morning wash in my dad's garden, where he uses an old seed tray as a bird bath! As you can see, the birds don't seem to mind!

-Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter

Me doing some summer reading on my bed. I was reading The Scarlet Letter. I'm finished that now, and onto A Native Son by Richard Wright. And after that, I have to read A People's History of the United States: 1492 to Present Day by Howard Zinn, and take detailed notes. I'm not looking forward to that.

The quote applies to me because I hadn't realized that I'd needed a quiet place to just sit (or lie) and just read this.

Currently listening to: She is Love - Parachute

P.S. Print giveaway? Yes or no? A few people have already expressed interest, but I'd say I need at least 7 or 8 people before I actually have one. :) Comment if you're interested!

the last rays at the caravan. I'm not unhappy with the council elections. I voted for two SNP candidates and one Green, and got all three in. Just a pity we got the Labour guy too but at least it wasn't one of May's minions unlike elsewhere. Still on the bright side it will be fun hearing how a Tory copes with being elected by the people of Ferguslie Park

an oldie, but i still love it.
