I've been feeling really ill today so I stayed in bed most of the day. I got hungry though and had to order pizza (it means I dont have to go out and I can order and pay online) so got dressed and decided to take a very "normal" picture ... least, it was normal - until I decided to add random smoke to it (my mind told me to go with it so I listened).
My friend and his friend called me earlier and put a huge smile on my face. One of my fave artists was performing one of my current fave songs and they were at the show in Istanbul and they called me to listen to it. It made me very happy so thanks guys!

Day 107 - April = Yellow.
A quick, simple shot tonight.
These aren't my Marigolds - which is why they don't fit!
O-m-g I just realized Flickr ruined the soft effect I put on this o.o
Hmph. Well, I still love it anyway ♥
of course, kris quickly takes on the basic duties of helping him to recover slowly from the surgery. this picture what taken only about 15 minutes after the surgery was over, so the anesthesia is making him often forget to breathe. as the meds wear off, we have to use the oxygen mask less and less frequently.

Today was my 21st and therefore also my golden birthday! I had an awesome day!
I woke up to find the hallway in front of my door packed waist-high in balloons courtesy of my friend Amanda. That was really cool...the fact that she planned it and was willing to get up at 5am to execute the plan made me feel really loved.
I went to buy textbooks with some of my residents around noon. I met up with Dan at the bookstore and he walked back with us. We hung out at my place for awhile and then he decided that he was hungry and wanted something to tide him over before our dinner date. We decided to go to Applebees so that he could eat appetizers and I could order my first legal drink. We invited some of my co-workers, so I had a mini-party with Dan and my CA boys.
Afterward Dan and I went to each other's places so that we could each get dressed up for dinner. He looked handsome in his suit, and I felt really cute in my black polka dot dress (borrowed from one of my residents). Once we were ready, we headed downtown to Zelo, a fancy Italian restaurant.
I made sure to order food that was out of my usual comfort zone, and that was a good choice because the food was delicious. Even more out of my comfort zone was the fact that I ordered wine with my meal! I used the waitress's suggestions to make my choice. For dessert, we got the above pictured chocolate dessert and ice cream (candle included!). I also got a Midnight Express mixed drink, also seen here. The date was really lovely and memorable.
The whole day was pretty awesome. I had a bunch of phone calls from friends and family sending birthday greetings scattered throughout the day.
All in all, I truly did have a "happy birthday".
Day 107
For my 365 project and FGR & Loud & Noisy, #3 for my mini-theme "Him", and GWTL Body Language. Woo-hoo! I managed to do 4 themes in one! :)
So...every spring my husband gets itchy to change something/build something in the yard. This year it's our pond. It used to be a medium sized pond, surrounded by a wooden structure that he built and stained, with a little river that led to a few tiny waterfalls. This spring, he has decided to change it all up, and build a rock wall to replace the wooden one, add a few levels and waterfalls, and while he's at it, change up some plants, rocks, gravel, etc.
As a result, I have been lucky enough (insert sarcasm here) to have gone through 2 months (so far) of construction at our house. It's LOUD, there are always guys out there working, and they never seem to be done. When you ask how much longer, they always say 2 weeks.
I want my yard back!
Things are looking up. This has been a great week. I got a lot of things done, learned quite a bit at work (that will benefit my personal interests as well), and I have good friends willing to help fill my glass full. This is for you TC :)
For 365 days and NGWC (texture - thanks to Liek).
after about an hour, this is how we found odin in the post-op recovery room. he's just starting to wake up and he's grabbing a nurses finger. all things considered he seems to be doing quite well. he's a little flushed from the anesthesia and a bit puffy from the water that he's retained as a result from the intravenous fluids that he's receiving to keep him hydrated.
the plastic mask supplies him with oxygen since the anesthesia makes him forget to breathe. so every so often he has to have the mask put on his face to help keep his blood oxygen levels at acceptable levels.
not really at all, but when i saw this picture that song came to mind, so deal : )
me and hillaree went and to boynton inlet today.hammock parking lot was full :(
we got panera on the way and ate it on the beach, it was so cute and oh so delicious.

we saw a couple get engaged.
they were sitting on the rocks and then the guy got down on one knee and did his thing, and then they hugged/kissed and then he put the ring on her and she jumped on him and more kissing and hugging.

Tonight I am flying out for a holiday to London.
My bags are packed & I'm ready to go ... I know I look like I have a lot of stuff but I am taking some treats for my friends.
Now ... I feel like I'm forgetting something ....
Went to the orthodontist with daughter Mila. She has braces on her lower teeth as well. Because they hurt I couldn't take a picture of her. IN the next few days I guess. This sweet little daisy I saw in our backyard. Totally on its own, had to be photographed!

For the 365 Days self-portrait project.
I got nuthin. On my way to work, could be there all night because after work I'm on call for more work. Don't feel like bringing my camera to work with me as I sometimes do.

Went to the Des Moines Youth Symphony concert at the Drake University Performing Arts Hall the other night. Took some shots of the group but I always shy away from posting any kid shots without permission. Fortunately, behind the orchestra was a massive pipe organ. So I went out on the catwalk to grab this shot of the pipes. All I could think of was that if I fell and broke my neck, my son would be so embarrassed. At least I had clean socks on.

I've gotten this fortune 3 times in the past 2 weeks. I figured that meant I should take a selfie with it. I think some of my lunch tried to escape from my stomach... :P
This morning was a beautiful, mysterious, foggy wonderland. I took the chance to shoot my favorite tree in it, looking down the hill into whatever lies beyond.
The black object near the center, with a bone emerging from it, is one half of a deer hoof; the other half is the pointy blackish object to the left. There are sizable fragments of bone too. Given that and the diameter of the scat itself, we are guessing cougar. They're not at all rare around here though rarely seen.
A bill to re-legalize hunting them with packs of dogs is in the state legislature now (Oregon), backed by ranchers and rural residents concerned about safety of children and pets. Cougar attacks on humans are quite rare, but increase as more humans move into cougar areas. In No. America between 1890 and 2004 there were 88 confirmed attacks resulting in 20 deaths. Children are disproportionately targeted, probably because of small size and quick movements.

Musically Challenged, reprise week 6
I really wanted to be the Fucker dancing, but this week hasn't given me a chance to do it and really mean it.
I'll share here, even though I haven't shared anywhere else, the details of this week.
Tuesday, I was informed I've been laid off. It's official in October when our office will close its doors. I have 4 months to figure things out.
Wednesday, really Tuesday night, the a/c at the house broke suddenly, and we had to get a part replaced. We've already reached temps in the 100s.
Thursday, HunHun's car engine blew. And now we've got to come up w/ a shitload of pennies and dollars to get it repaired.
I think I'll be happy about it being Friday, if I make it through the day w/o something else breaking or falling apart. :)
oh! and in trying to find some inspiration, since it seems i'm jumping back in, i've decided, i'm going to try and cover a song a week from Musically Challenged starting at the beginning, when i wasn't a part of it, so technically, they're all new to me. So, it's why you see the name of the group, even though currently there are no challenges being handed out. Week 6 was the first week, I found w/ no direct challenges, but rather a list provided.
So, there. :)

I went to one of my favorite pottery barns to buy my wife a Mother's Day gift. While I was there I spotted this cool vase, which will be perfect for my roses when they begin to bloom. The Thin Man is checking the inside to make sure the glaze is even before I add water for the first time and Blue is trying to figure out what is going on!
(I bought my wife a beautiful, disk-shaped oil candle in a peacock pattern!)
Oh dearie me. Completely forgot about a 365 today so just a quick shot of my burgeoning beer belly taken a couple of minutes before midnight.
Stayed in this evening watching Ireland get the pants beat off them in the Eurovision Song Contest. We came last with 4 points.
And not one point from the UK after we put them on the board (and ahead of us) with 7 points.
Was a really fun day!!! It was like 80 out and sunny!!! So come on what do you think i would dooo!!! :D Thats right go outside!! SO MUCH FUN!!! xD
Using the olloclip 10x macro lens on my iPhone i took some pictures of a bunch of tulips I had bought. This is two images layered in photoshop and then a blending mode applied to the top layer. I will add original files.
My Clone said he was going to take a short trip. It was longer than either of us expected, but ended abruptly. I think it had a big impact on him too.

Day 107 of 365 (Year Three)
For some reason Amazon sent me book 3 of PJ Haarsma's Softwire books. Considering I told them to hold everything and send it all at once, I was a bit befuddled yesterday when book 3 arrived alone.
Thankfully, their tracking information was right and I got the other two today. Now I can start reading the trilogy.
Today was also the "Read With Daddy" at my daughter's school. It was fun being there, but I was a bit disappointed in the selection of books I had to choose from to read to the class. The books were a bit silly, which I guess appeals to a second grader, but I personally thought they were a bit below Savanah's reading level and the one I ended up with, while cute, was really below their reading level. To make things even worse, it was all a narration so there weren't any voices and silliness that I could do. When we all get together at my parent's house one of my favorite activities is reading to the kids and acting out parts of the story. I couldn't do that with the book I got. Oh well, there is always next year. Maybe next year I'll pick my own book to read to them.

Well this was fun to do. I'm actually really happy with this. I remember seeing a lot of abstract wallpapers similar to this and having no idea how they were all done but somehow I kind of accidentally made one.
April 17, 2014; 107/365 (2299/2557)- Tonight at church we observed Maundy Thursday, a service to follow Jesus and his disciples in the upper room through Jesus washing his disciples feet and the last supper. At the end of the service the altar is stripped and reserve sacraments are set out for the Good Friday service tomorrow.
I preached tonight, and although attendance is always down from a usual service it is still one of my favorites services of Holy Week . . . peace+
