Just another macro flower shot.

View On Black • Don't you think we're running all the time now? Work, activities, kids...

Sometimes it's just nice to stop and enjoy the view. That's what I did today when I say this park, full of trees. The light was very particular... No wonder it started pouring rain seconds after that shot!

Today, I was keen to try and replicate the high splash I had yesterday! I tried all sorts of things, but to no avail!

I was just about to give up, and concentrate on a more conventional collision, when this popped up on the back of my camera! The slender water spike is there again, and that seems to be the key to getting these high collisions! I only wish I could work out how I'm generating them!

It's not quite as high as yesterday's collision, but it's another new formation for me, which meant it had to be my shot of the day!

Of course, I was over the moon to get the reflection too! :)

I had to go and fetch my 16 year old Australian cousin off the plane from Sydney. I then had to take her to Paddington train station so she could catch the train to Plymouth where she used to live. She is over here visiting her old friends. Embankment station is relatively close to Paddington Station so I decided to go there and photograph this tunnel on my way home. This is the same station as this photo and this photo

With a west view behind our house, we're treated to some colorful skies from our deck. Makes for an enjoyable dinner backdrop.

A wee treat for today, not that I deserve it but, what the heck ... lol

I missed the day yesterday. I wasn't busy nor out of ideas for the day (in fact I had something I've wanted to shoot) but I said screw it and spent the day on my own doing nothing at all except tv shows on the net - Bones to be more specific.

Dexter ended for this season last week and I was having withdrawal symptoms so found me another forensic-y show to watch. Luckily, it wasn't hard since I like David Boreanaz from Angel/Buffy anyway. Anyway, don't know if I've ever mentioned it here before but when I was growing up, I really really wanted to get into forensic science. Not one of those things you say you want to do but never really seriously wanna do, mine was really what I was interested in doing. So that's where my love of these types of shows comes from.

I'm back from vacation and am looking forward to catching up on all of your amazing photography!

Rest in Peace Sir Stirling Moss.

Monday is the toughest day of the week to so many. Yesterday, a lot of my co-workers were so grumpy to be at work. So I suggested to have lunch at the park and get some fresh air. We were having a conversation about how we spent our weekend and everyone started to lighten up but then as the weather forecast suggested, it started pouring. We had to run for cover, everyone went back to their grumpy mood because of the rain. It wasn’t as hard compared with the past 2 Mondays’ rain but it was enough to put them down.

I took it as blessing instead, the rain may have ruined our lunch but it washed the park, nourished our crops, filled our reservoirs and so on. As we are well aware, water is essential to life. With the current recession and global economic crisis, simple things like rain is something to be thankful for.

So instead of being in a bad mood because it’s Monday and the rain, I looked up and saw something pure and beautiful, things are indeed looking up! :)

Happy Pretty Pink Tuesday!

Day 103: We got another fresh batch of snow yesterday (a possible nor'easter on Sunday), just enough to have to clean it up...but it sure looked pretty :D

After the 3 day Pontiac photo mission i was hoping to do some portraits so i asked tam if she would take some photos with me. Im always bugging her like that and she was awesome enough to help out so we set up this photo. I knew i wanted something close up, with a strong bold color pop as tams eyes are blue and this scarf was great for that complementary color and they would work well together for that reason. So i set up some lights and we did this photo.

It seems like this project 366 is best for that --the reason of constantly picking up your camera,

In 2010 when i did my 365 i shot that whole year and after Dec 31st we were in Malaysia and still backpacking through Asia for another 4 months until May and i took a photo everyday on our trip --so that was 16 months in a row everyday i had my camera with me...i dont even know how i did it --and when we got home from our trip i still took photos for the next week. I remember on May 9th last year i didnt take a photo --it was odd---I had taken a photo for the last 493 days in a row--it just felt weird not to. Then last summer i shot a ton of weddings and portraits but i wasn't doing a 365,it just felt like that brake was needed to recoup my mind but i knew that once your a 365 junkie its hard to stop--So this year when i thought "hey i should do another 366 cause its a leap year.." It wasn't even me saying that it was the inner photographer that was yelling at me telling me, "You better do this" So that's how this photo happened 366 makes ya do that kinda stuff... Thanks again to Tam.

This is the creek in a forest preserve area close to where I live. It's usually dry and the recent rain fall helped the water flow. My original intent was to shoot this with long exposure time to make the water silky. However the day light didn't help even at very low ISOs. Looks like I need get ND filters to block the light further.

OMG this one is creeping me out. Here’s how I did it:

- took a pic of a jeweled beaded flower on a purse

- bumped up levels and saturation

- used liquefy filter to swirl each jewel, leaving centre jewel intact

- duplicated layer

- flipped top layer horizontally

- reduced opacity to 50 per cent

- blended (can’t remember which blend. “Overlay,” I think)

- totally freaked out at the faces that the blend revealed

- tried the same technique with a nice photo of tulips

- copied the result and laid it over the scary goat image, intending to delete the goaty layers

- decided to blend the tulip layer to the goat layer and post it that way (only slightly less disturbing than it was in the first place)

Week 15 Day 103

On the way to work this morning I stopped at the sunken barge on the river to see if Pinnacle Mountain had snow on it. It did and so did I . I slipped on the snowy gangplank and fell on the river bank in a pile of snow. Missed going into the river by about 6 feet. Nature got it's revenge.

Translation from Polish: White Borscht.

I make the traditional fermented from oats recipe not the quick one you find on line on most sites (in my opinion, "fake biały barszcz"). Taught to me by my mother from her mother, etc. Served with hard boiled egg, colored in onion skins, real homemade kielbasa, and good rye bread. I always add a large spoonful of horseradish. Not for the meek, this is a hardy meal and will keep you going all day.

Mmm!

It's a LEGO Bench Monday (I haven't done a Bench Monday in a long while!)

I've been having the weirdest dreams lately. Probably something I ate.

We're Here: The Psychedelic Experience

Strobist: speedlight with red gel camera left; speedlight with blue gel camera right; speedlight with yellow gel overhead and slightly behind; optically triggered by partially obscured on camera flash. Twice. In hindsight, should have used softening on the subject illumination so it blended better with the macro-ish table top shot. Composite put together in Gimp, minimal PP apart from that. I was hoping the pig would find me some truffles, but we ended up with something else entirely.

Here's a good example of the benefits of having a camera with me at all times. Saw this goose walking along the sidewalk in the middle of town and thought it would make a neat photo.

The Hereios are visiting psychedelia today. I was initially thinking of a hippy vibe with the flower headpiece, but after mucking about on pixelmator i got to this, which i liked more. I used the zoom effect to get those spiky edges.

for the 100x theme (32) in pixelamator and for 215 - having fun (52).

this made me think of Jack Frost - so using for 75/115 - Fairytale Illustration

VIAGGIO

era in me e fuori di me.

Durante tutto il viaggio la nostalgia non si è separata da me

e del viaggio non mi resta nulla se non quella nostalgia.

_______________________________________________________

TRAVEL

Throughout the trip, the nostalgia is not separate from me

I do not say that it was like my shadow

stood beside me in the dark

I do not say that it was like my hands and my feet

when you sleep you lose your hands and feet

I did not miss the nostalgia even while you sleep

throughout the journey nostalgia is not separate from me

I do not say that it was hunger or thirst or desire

nell'afa of fresh or warm in the cold

was something that can not reach satiety

was not joy or sadness was not linked

the cities to the clouds to songs with memories

I was in and out of me.

Throughout the trip, the nostalgia is not separate from me

and the trip I just have nothing but the nostalgia.

April 13th. I decided today that it was too hard combine the two themes and was going to relinquish the double theme title to Neil this week. but no........

I so wanted to do this much imitated shot for the week 15 theme of the 52 project. So this is #1. It's not quite as I wanted it and we were going to re shoot but it's Dr Who and then The Voice tonight and we have her French exchange student here, so I have called it a day.

now, you all may think this is fine (excellent) but I just think it is fine (acceptable or good enough). Get in contronym 7 (it's on Rods list so it counts!)

And get in for my 52 week projects: week 15 done

I hope you like it!

I love this lens, everything looks magical at f1.4. I'm sure I'll resume normal creativity at some point, but I'm still happy snapping away.

A year ago today there was dew on the grass.

When I feel happy or sad, I come here to see the lovely view.
