We said our goodbyes to Els early this morning at the airport. There were lots of people there to say their goodbyes. But even in such a crowd I felt so sad and alone.

Freezing rain, ice pellets and snow today. Where is our April spring weather?

Day 102 2015
Male Nursery Web spider with his impressive palps.
Pedipalps of spiders have the same segmentation as the legs, but the tarsus is undivided, and the pretarsus has no lateral claws. In sexually mature male spiders, the final segment of the pedipalp, the tarsus, develops into a complicated structure (sometimes called the palpal organ or bulb) that is used to transfer sperm to the female seminal receptacles during mating.

Day 102/365
This is one of two tunnels that run underneath the Queen subway station that are used for changing direction. Historical subway plans included a Queen Street subway and these underground tunnels are all that remain of unrealized that plan. The tunnels were intended to be part of lower Queen station.
In reality, there's only one hallway underneath the subway. This shot was taken using my Mirrorgram app, which duplicates creates two hallways from one.

I was just looking at my flickr contacts stream - and I saw a pic by Neil in which he points out he is influenced by our flickr contacts Matt and Perry. Well, I'm now influenced by all of the above.
This morning I tried to do something other than my typical stuff, and so waded into the creek at the dog park in the manner of Matt. I was trying to channel Matt's approach. I didn't have the wellies on like he does, I just got wet feet. But as I squatted in the water (no, I was not engaged in public toiletry practices unlike Matt - I was just using a very small tripod), I thought maybe I should topple over and get my bum wet. That's what he would do. Frequently.
But, alas, my natural instinct to keep my bum dry kept me from being a copy of the man who spends his days splashing about the Gelt River.
It's a poor imitation of a Matt photo, but it's the thought that counts.
And surely he would give me a bonus point for the Star Wars reference in the title?
Let me add a special thank you to my flickr buds who commented on Meggie's pic of the day yesterday. It was the first thing she looked at when she got out of bed today. She (and I) are grateful for the comments.

HolgaMod, Tri-X 320, Diafine...I hate waiting for the negatives to dry before I can scan them and see what I've got!
No post-processing on this one.
These are the salt & pepper bantam bosom buddies. On the left is Greta Garbo and on the right is Doris Day. This dynamic duo is convinced they are in fact the same chicken. They are attached at the hip and never leave one another's side. 🐣

I am SO SO SO glad I bought those Polished Honey Topaz Nuggets from Judy, just look at them glow!!!!!
Well it was all going so well... until it wasn't!
The Landrover survived its sideways fall into the pit with minimal damage to vehicle and occupants... except their pride perhaps. New wing, roof, windscreen and it'll be fine!
It did take a bit of getting out though.

Reliable subject - Flowers: This flower had a little star in the inside and it radiated a glow which I liked.
I saw a bright pink color recently (not in the flower context) and thought of taking a photo with bright pink in it. This one cut the deal :-)
A crochet headband with many other powers. I tried using it to keep the snain off, but it failed, so instead it acted as a blindfold.

Today was more of a setup day as we had to make a 2 hour detour to drop Joyce's cat off at her aunts in Tampa. We are headed to Seaworld Orlando tomorrow to shoot with the dolphins, walruses or penguins, I'm not sure yet. We've been hooked up good by my old high school friend Tammy.
Joyce scopped out a hotel early in the morning so we were spared the usual, "Where are we going to sleep" question. We made our way to the Ramada right next to Disney world. Of course, Stella had to once again send us on ass backwards less than scenic route. We ended up getting there with the help of the iPhone.
For some odd and equally confusing reason there is a Ramada both on the north and south side of the street. We took a wild guess and chose one and it happened to be the right one. We got two nights for $60.00. Best deal yet on a hotel. We paid more for one night in Helen, GA. But so far the most we spent was on the apartment sized suite outside of San Francisco at a whopping $99.00.
We decided to get a quick bite to eat and figured we hit up the un-official project 365 sponsor, Taco Bell. We pulled up and I told Joyce that this wouldn't work unless she could hold off from laughing. I preceded to order in the most obnoxious southern accent I could muster up! Joyce was biting her tongue as my southern accent cracks her up every time. We get our order and the second we pull away, she lets it all out.
We make it back to the hotel, eat and start developing today's theme. Since the GPS, Stella doesn't know her ass from her elbow or screen from mount let alone north, south, east or west… Florida from California, what better theme then my utter frustration with evil and totally useless piece of over priced technology.
I setup in the hall way and snapped a dozen shots. We go back in to load and I realize that the USB cord is all the way down in the Jeep. I make my way down the hall and thinking I'm slick I take a short cut only to figure out it was the longest way to the Jeep. I tried to be slick but failed! Seaworld should be fun and with the proper amount of sun screen we should both make it out just as white as we go in.

Do you understand the movie reference?
Hint: It's an 80s film.

Day 102. Sorry, yesterday I came home and passed out in bed from exhaustion.
It's raining today, well, drizzling. I'll try to take some pictures.
preferably without skipping a day and changing the combination at least every 3 days.
(i soon get bored.. and you never ever ever can have enough shades and ballerinas...)
. hih .
thanks for the 25.000 streamviews i reached recently!
Black cats are incredibly difficult to photograph even if they aren't jumping all over the place and exploring every little hole they can find. Add to that the fact that our two new lads have taken to hiding under the sofa every time I try and get a shot of them being cute ...
In short - I gave up trying to snap them, so here's a picture of Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service instead. At least he stayed put ... ;)
Even the most vigilant ninja sheep has to sleep sometime! Not being blessed with the foxy gift of sleeping with one eye open at all times, I installed a secret camera to see if the greedy Leprechaun came for his hat!
This is what the footage revealed…. Oh dear!
Pssst: don't forget to turn on your speakers :-)

If this is wierd to you, just understand, I was doing this for a photography assignment for my class... topic follows.
3. Light in the frame. The Kodak guides from the 70’s will tell you to put the sun behind the photographer, shining on the subjects face. This invariably results in pictures where the subjects are squinting into a bright vacation sun. Your challenge is to present an image where a light source is in the frame. The light in your image does not need to be the sole source. Realize having a light in your image may freak your exposure meter out. Have an idea of the image you’re after, then execute it. Don’t be satisfied until you achieve your vision.

My sister lives 1000km away in Sydney but she's on holidays nearby, so I caught up with her and her family on Sunday. I reckon my nephews probably think of me as "that silly uncle from Queensland who makes us jump in the air every time we see him". Shooting this on the road was fun - we had to move a few times for cars although the motorists could clearly enjoy the silliness of it all. From left, are my nephews Joel and Ben (who has added a twist to his jump), my brother-in-law Lloyd, my big sister Sue and me and my daughter Meg.
Kim's photo with our individual editing. The image was shot with a dark background, something Kim rarely does. I opted to keep the dark background and used her scripted texture on screen blend. I did a bit of desaturation and finished it off with a frame and pink stroke.

Lots of Cakes
My girlfriend made a lot of cakes today. And yes, they tasted very good.

Classes are at that franticly rushing to the finish line pace right now, and the rooms are all uncomfortable and stuffy. I spent most of the day staring at the clock. I desperately needed a gentle breeze and some fresh sunshine.

Wedding Reception
Lookin' a little fuzzy here. Chose this shot mainly because the necklace was more visible. My Grandmother made it somewhere round the 1960's or 70's.
Pour me, pour me
Pour me another
It holds me, holds me
Like no other
One more drink then I swear that I'm going home
Truth is, I don't really have a place to go
So pour me, pour me
Pour me another

Hehe park. :D It was fun, but the houses annoyed me. My shots were really limited because at most angles, you could see rooftops and roads and everything... This place really needs some REAL parks, where houses are not visible.
Selective colouring ftw? ;) I'm actually not wearing lipstick or anything... my lips are actually that red. The editing didn't add any red-ness to it either, except for maybe increased contrast.
Okay so I've been tagged for quite a while, so I thought that I would do my 10 random facts now.
10 Random Facts About Me:
1. The only body part I'm ever truly happy with is my lips. That's why I take such good care of them. Haha.
2. I PMS all the time. I'm constantly in a bad mood. Except not always. If that makes sense.
3. I need to blast my music. Otherwise it's not as enjoyable.
4. My squishy blanket and I have such a good relationship. We spend nights together all the time, and I never want to leave her. ♥ :)
5. I hate how my blushing betrays my feelings, but I just can't control it. -_-
6. I've decided to keep all my calendars for the rest of my life. They will make up my life story (since I write everything in them LOL).
7. Sometimes I'm really humble, but other times I'm just really cocky.
8. When it comes to shoes, I absolutely do not care about brands and whatnot. As long as it fits, it's cute, and I can walk in it, okay! :D
9. To be honest, I'm proud of how well I can adapt certain things. For example, my handwriting, my writing styles, my image, etc.
10. My idea of a good time is doing nothing and laughing a lot.

When Mr Fox told Mrs PB that he was going to hit the books and asked if she wanted to join in, she was a little disappointed to discover (after eagerly agreeing) that he didn't mean what she though he meant!
Mr Fox had thought her uncharacteristic enthusiasm for learning a little odd, even to the point where he thought it might not be the real Mrs Polar Bear! He was actually a little relieved, when she realised her nearly catastrophic mistake, and promptly made her excuses before scurrying off like a bear out of hell! He only knew for definite it was the real Mrs PB though when, his peaceful studying, was periodically interrupted with loud polar bear shrieks and bangs from the room next door!
i go back and forth a lot about my hair. cut it? don't. but maybe? hmm... Anyway, in all my indecision, it just keeps growing...

We spent the day entertaining, as the weather was gorgeous we were able to go in the garden all the time, the kids in the pool and on the bouncy castle and all the adults relaxing and chatting. One of the many things I made was a potato salad, when cutting some chives to go into it I noticed the droplets that formed, so decided to grab my camera.
I will be back checking and commenting on everyone's streams tomorrow. I hope you have all had a fabulous weekend.
