Note: the slanty horizon was intentional - well, not at the time I took it, but when I tried to straighten it up after the shoot it lost something, so I decided to leave it as is :)

Agh....a nice calm start to the week...
To say conditions were tricky this morning for photography is a gross understatement. It was a 10m high tide with storm force winds to boot...

Can I get a drum roll please...
After a 5 month wait, the new Canary Islands Tourism ad-campaign that I worked on with a Spanish film crew is finally ready to be shown to the world.
So, without any further ado...here is the link to the short film that they made whilst I was lying on the streets of London making the work:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WoBkYMBTpY
See if you can spot the bearded Scotsman creating miniature artworks around the streets of London - thanks for all your help Ben Tanner.
Keep your eyes peeled for the main global advertising campaign which should see some daylight now that the film has gone live.
TWLOHA
To Write Love On Her Arms:
TWLOHA is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.
Earlier this year I created a body of work especially for TWLOHA. By adding light to darkness (by way of Light Painting), I hope my photography conveys this important message: It is never truly dark.
I find the concept of being present in each of the photographs yet remaining invisible quite incredible. I have an undeniable presence in each photograph yet there is no evidence that I was there other than the light sculptures that have been left behind.
Some individuals will associate nighttime with negativity, as natural light has faded, leaving everything in darkness. However, as my photography proves at the end of each long exposure, there is still an element of natural light there, proving that it is never truly dark.
You can find out more about TWLOHA by visiting their website www.TWLOHA.com and you can also find out more about this particular body of work here: twloha.com/blog/it-never-truly-dark
I am donating 50% of all proceeds raised through the sale of my Light Painting E-book from the following link to TWLOHA: www.davidgilliver.com/photography/twloha/

Well, I may still venture out later to spin a few Orbs but the rain has just started and there are still strong winds so not sure it is looking that likely sadly.
Glad I managed to make it out earlier with the Big Stopper though otherwise I would be struggling for ideas tonight. Just one more day to go incredibly!!
I love living on Guernsey - the coast that surrounds practically the entire Island is just stunning and great for those days that you feel like just jumping in your car and heading out with the camera.

Well, I have finally managed to update my website to include my latest work, so please drop by and let me know what you think:

Tonight, I decided to go back to the beach at Vazon. The lighting was only good for around 20 minutes, so I had a pretty narrow window of time in which to work. Got a couple that I was reasonably happy with though.

Well, isn't this 366 project a piece of cake? Half way, and it has already felt like an eternity! haha! It may be a struggle but it will be an amazing thing to have under the belt once it is done. Cheers to the AMAZING 366 community on here for helping to keep me going. It has been a close run thing lately as to whether or not I was going to stick at it.
Up, downs, twists, turns. Here's to another 6 months of 366-ness!

The image is a little stretched, but conditions on the beach that night were just exceptional, and I just love the reflections.

(I will explain the title at a later date...)
I tell you what, I have never tried to make an Orb in wind any stronger than that experienced this evening. It was so strong, as you may be able to tell from the crazy lines that make up the Orb! It was so so cold, and my hands are only just working again. Phew, no frost-bite! ;o)
Cropped (slightly).

I'm so excited to finally be able to share this very exciting news. Thanks so much to My Art Broker and John Lewis for taking a chance on me and my art work. The Little People are thrilled!
After what has been a very long and fruitful journey, three of my prints are now available to purchase via the John Lewis website and also from JL's Oxford Street store in London. These prints will soon also be available to purchase via my own website. I'm still rubbing my eyes in case this is not actually happening.
More news to follow soon...
Thanks to everyone out there who has been following me and my Small World series. I'm so grateful for all of your support. It's a Small World!

A very important tartan to me and my family.
It was therefore extremely cool to be able to head out the other night and actually light paint it! Technology these days eh?
It feels good to have my 365 up to date for September. As our Babs will be making an appearance any day now I will proabbly not be on Flickr for a bit, so catch up with everyone when time (and baby) allows. And thanks so much to everyone for all the comments and fav's lately. It has really helped keep my 365 alive :O)

A long time ago in an Art School far, far away... I got told off by my tutors for taking photographs of Star Wars toys whilst working my way through my Fine Art Photography degree. Pah!
Well, it's time to return to this incredible trilogy (the original trilogy of course!) and continue with what has already been a very cathartic process. Tutors - who needs 'em! ;o)
Chewie - take her to point five past light speed. Let's do this thing!!
Last week was an utterly bizarre week for me (in a good way). I have never experienced anything quite like it before, but it's crazy weeks like that one which make good things happen.
I recently submitted some work (and accompanying text) online which turned into a very special opportunity and experience for me in the end. I was lucky enough to be selected for a particular online ad-campaign which meant that a 6-person film crew ended up flying over to Guernsey last week to document how I set about making my Light Painting work.
I will share more specific details about the whole experience soon (as the final work is not quite ready yet) and so for now I just wanted to share one of the test-shots from this particular Light Painting session.
This photograph was made at a location on Guernsey that is famous for being haunted. The owners told me that many people have taken photographs at this particular location and have later discovered things in the photographs that quite simply cannot be explained.
Well all righty then! As if I was not already scared enough about working down there in the dark! But here's the really weird part - several of the photographs I took had really weird orange marks all over the sides of the images that I genuinely cannot explain. I will post more results later to show you what I mean. I am sure there is a sound explanation for it all, but at this current point in time I have nothing to say other than it freaked us all right out!!

Another test shot from earlier this month to see how Logos turned out using the stick of magic!
Pretty cool seeing these rather familiar brand logos made out of light!
And before any lawyers get in touch - these were used for test purposes only ;o)
Some exciting projects definitely lie ahead!

Throughout 2018 I have been busy working on a new photographic project in Scotland using my miniature figurines (the 'Little People').
My main hope is that this new series of photographs will help highlight the plastic / litter epidemic our country (and planet) is suffering from. Littering in general has always sickened me, and the 'Blue Planet II effect' really made me feel like I too could help highlight the issue using my own unique approach.
Earlier this year, I spent several days collecting bags full of plastic and rubbish that had been discarded (or washed up) next to beaches and lochs on the west coast of Scotland, mostly 'beauty' spots. I kept some of this plastic to make my work (recycling the rest) and returned to the banks of Loch Lomond a couple of months ago to photograph my latest series - LIFE IN PLASTIC.
