Here's where I cut my teeth on the setup of a website's hardware. The former Exodus corporate site was running on two load-balanced e450 servers, an A1000 RAID drive, a Dell system running Red Hat and a Windows server for e-marketing software. I spent WAY too many hours standing in this tiny cage configuring servers and networking gear. Ear plugs and a coat required.
...my site is going down for some time, for some maintenance (for the first time in two years!)
i'll be plugging in some fresh hardware in my old server, after that i can (on another day) put server number two along...
i think i have plenty of time there (waiting for raid sets to rebuild and such) to geek around... i'm not sure if i can manage it, but i'll try to have some uptime even when the server is down ;-)

Wasserkraftwerk "Whylen-August" 100Jahr Feier

Das Zwillingskraftwerk von Whylen-August liegt in Südbaden (BW) bei Lörrach, dieses Jahr feierte das Kraftwerk seinen 100. Geburtstag. Das 1908 erbaute Rhein-Wasserkraftwerk liefert im Jahr 255 Mio. Kilowatt pro Stunde (ca. 39 MW-Leistung), die mächtigen Turbinen werden pro Sekunde mit 750m³ Wasser versorgt. Bestückt ist die deutsche Seite des Kraftwerks, das der Energiedienst AG gehört mit 5 Francis Turbinen und 6 hochmodernen Straflo-Turbinen (gehört zum Typ der Kaplan-Turbinen, dieses sind weiterentwicklungen der älteren Francis Serien) Der Betreiber "Energiedienst AG" hat in Rheinfelden (D-Baden) ein weiteres mächtiges Wasserkraftwerk errichtet (100 MW bei 600 mio. Kw/h), damit werden tausende private Haushalte, namhafte Industrieunternehmen und selbst die Datacenter eines großen deutschen Web/Cloudhosters versorgt.

Hydropower plant "Whylen-August" 100 year celebration
The twin power plant located in southern Baden-August Whylen (BW) at Lörrach, this year celebrated its 100th power plant Birthday. Built in 1908, Rhine hydroelectric supplies in 255 million kilowatts per hour care (about 39 MW capacity), the mighty turbines with 750m ³ of water per second. Equipped is the German side of the power station with 5 Francis turbines and 6 advanced Straflo turbines (is type of Kaplan turbines, that are further developments of the older Francis Series) The operator of "Energiedienst AG" in Rheinfelden (Germany) built another powerful hydroelectric power plant (100 MW at 600 million. Kw / h), so thousands of households, known industrial companies and even the data center of a large German Web / Cloud Hosters are supplied.
