I bless the day I found you

I want to stay around you

And so I beg you, let it be me

Don't take this heaven from one

If you must cling to someone

Now and forever, let it be me

Each time we meet love

I find complete love

Without your sweet love what would life be

So never leave me lonely

Tell me you love me only

And that you'll always let it be me

Each time we meet love

I find complete love

Without your sweet love what would life be

So never leave me lonely

Tell me you love me only

And that you'll always---let--it be--me

The light and the clouds were constantly changing. For a few seconds, the clouds settled in like a collar framing the valley. I shoot with my cellphone... then darted to our campervan to grab my big irons and glasses and came back as fast as I could but the cloud collar had dissapeared, let alone the birds. I prepared the gear and stood for more than half and hour waiting for a suitable cloud arrangement and for the crows to appear. I shoot like mad but I got no other picture as good as this one, not by a long shot. The take home message: don't ever leave behind your gear.

The Spomenik Database was set up in 2016 by writer, history hobbyist and travel enthusiast Donald Niebyl to act as a comprehensive online resource for the most significant and notable of the abstract & modernist World War II monuments built in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from roughly 1960 to 1990 (structures commonly referred to as 'Spomeniks'), which are now, after the breakup of that country in the 1990s, scattered across the present-day regions of Croatia, Slovenia, N. Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia i Herzegovina and Montenegro.

This spomenik complex at Mostar commemorates the 810 named fallen World War II fighters from Mostar whose bodies are interred in the cemetery here; each of the fighters were members of the Partisan National Liberation Army and died fighting against the Axis Ustaše and German occupiers. Along with the 810, the bodies of hundreds of WW2 fallen Partisan fighters were interred in the staircases leading up to the top of the monument

Since the fall of Yugoslavia, as the site has fallen into disrepair, a great number of markers have been vandalized, displaced and smashed. Even engraved markers that have been recently refurbished and replaced continue to be destroyed.

Science fiction:

Data could be stored in solar systems. Sun light change on a planet could be a part of a code. Some planets together, they could create a code like a binary code ( used in digital computers), written with a binary number system in which there are only two possibilities, off and on ( like on a planet night and day), symbolized by 0 and 1. Each digit is one bit. There are a lot of planets in a galaxy, and there are billions of galaxies.

It might be possible that a lot of information could be saved in space, and nature might use this data for its next move.

I recently got an id for this wasp from an entomologist who specializes in stinging wasps. He was shocked it was found in Texas. He said that to his knowledge, this species has never been found west of Louisiana. I & a friend both had several shots from different angles so the id was confirmed. It has been added to both bugguide and iNaturalist. So cool to find something rare and add it to the scientific community database. He was enjoying some wild onion blossoms.

Please download and use these open source images for your own purposes. If you do, please reference Macroscopic Solutions.

Photography information: All of the images in this database were captured with the Macropod.

The Macropod is a rigid, portable photomacrography system, which allows the user to make razor sharp, fully focused photographs of small sized specimens at 18 to 26-megapixel resolution. It overcomes the extreme Depth of Field (DOF) limitations inherent in optics designed to image smaller specimens. Normally, lenses designed for macro will only render a very small fraction of the depth of targeted specimen in sharp focus at any one exposure. The Macropod allows the user to select and make multiple exposures in precise increments along the Z-axis (depth) such that each exposure’s area of sharp focus overlaps with the previous and next exposure. These source images are then transferred to a computer and merged by an image-stacking program. Zerene Stacker is used to find and stitch together only the focused pixels from each exposure into one image. The Macropod integrates industry-leading components in a novel and elegant way to achieve these results.

In Greek mythology, Lycaon was a king of Arcadia who, in the most popular version of the myth, tested Zeus' omniscience by serving him the roasted flesh of Lycaon's own son Nyctimus, in order to see whether Zeus was truly all-knowing.

In return for these gruesome deeds, Zeus transformed Lycaon into a wolf and killed his offspring; Nyctimus was restored to life.

Despite being notorious for his horrific deeds, Lycaon was also remembered as a culture hero: he was believed to have founded the city Lycosura, to have established a cult of Zeus Lycaeus and to have started the tradition of the Lycaean Games, which Pausanias thinks were older than the Panathenaic Games.
