I took this photo at bosphorus. It had a lot of grain. But darktable which has powerful denoising tools, easily reduce them.

At Littleport we toured an old stone house that had been restored. It is currently owned by My mothers cousins Helen Rowell and her sister. Helen was a gracious and knowledgeable tour guide for this outing. It was also an excellent photo opportunity for me.

This house was built in the late 1800's and had sat empty for 50 some years until the early 2000's when it was restored and modernized with plumbing and electric. It is available as a B&B with information located at

Enjoy this restored piece of Iowa antiquity.

An Anemone hupehensis var. japonica (Japanese anemone) at Riccarton House and Bush, Christchurch, New Zealand. This was lightly touched by the late Autumn afternoon sun.

I quite liked the variegation of the outer petals - this seemed to only affect the outer petal, in some cases only half the petal, and I am not sure if this is an intended trait (as a showy sort of a hybrid), or just chance - but I find it appealing.

As a rule I never do flower images with sun falling directly upon them, preferring to wait or to shade them (with my hand, body, or a diffuser) if I can. I guess I wasn't paying attention this time, and liked the image despite the blown highlights, so made an exception.

Nice fall in "Parc Nacional d'Aigüetortes".
