Tobias was awesome. He's the one that suggested we do a photowalk before LGM, and is also the presenter during the photo workshop who walked through darktable for everyone. (I'm positive they gained a roomful of new users that day).
He's also the reason these photos even exist - the lighting gear is his, that he lugged all the way to Leipzig and was gracious enough to let me use. So a great big THANKS to Tobias!
Side note: Superstition says that there are some items you should not touch or open when you are in these places. The other is a old fashioned lady's coin pouch (<10 years old?) in front of the door to a smaller building.
Of course, how could I resist an opportunity to photograph the darktable folks as well?

Use darktable, but are very new to it? Ever click the "X" in the lower left of a thumbnail and have it disappear?
Basically clicking that [x] rates that photo as a reject, but doesn't delete it. You can apply ratings to you photos by hovering your mouse cursor over an image and pressing [R] to also apply the reject rating, pressing [0] takes away any rating and pressing 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 will rate the photo that many stars as the number value. Colors can be assigned to your photos the very same way, but using the function keys: [F1], [F2], [F3], [F4] and [F5]. Like in most common file managers you can also click one photo, all photos, or only select a few by holding down the [CTRL] key while you click on the photos you want selected before giving them the ratings you choose.
To show all photos no matter the rating you must set the view filter to, "all". The rating view filter is top of the darktable window over the uppermost thumbnail displayed on the left.
