Early morning in the Forrest of Bowland on the fells above Whitewell - cold though! This is several photos stitched together. If you zoom in you can just about see a snow capped Pen-y-Ghent over the border in Yorkshire.
When the hands strike midnight it will start

Sleepy Port Clyde, Maine will soon awaken to an overcast day. Even the fishermen are slow to join the pre-dawn morning.
Many find these dark days quite miserable

I find light wether it is dark here or there and getting out in nature is always a winner
So - hang in there, it's getting more and more light now
The strange light from the precursor to the remains of Ophelia arriving. It was so dark, yet it doesn't come across in the photos. As if it sucked all the light from the scene. It was also so warm, with a strange easterly wind, very unusual. Darkest place by Plan B is perfect, everyone said how dark it was. It was one of the most unusual beach walks I've ever had.
Darkest skies I've ever seen! I'm sure others have been to even more remote places with better dark skies, But to me, this was an awe-inspiring sight! The dark V that points to the very core of our galaxy was clearly visible to the naked eye.
This boggles my mind: The light that hit my camera's sensor that night, left the core 27,000,000 years before! What a journey! Oh, to take a ride on o photon!

Although this looks as if it might have been shot in the deepest darkest part of some remote exotic jungle, it was actually shot in a wood in North Lincolnshire, near to (the not so exotic) Scunthorpe!
The shafts of light bursting through the trees obviously caught my attention. It was only after I got the image on the computer that I noted that the light formed a vague heart shape.
Even in the darkest days of winter, signs of life & hope can be found, like these little Hellebore buds frosted with ice. They were a surprise & I was thrilled to find them!
