I Seriously, wasn't going to go out this night... Had a weeks worth of hell, and I really just wanted to do was get off work and go home. I was tired, I was cranky, it was the first weekend I've had off in a Month...
As soon as I pulled into the driveway @home, I could hear the weather radio going off and my storm capturing sensation came over me. Listening to the bullitins coming over the radio and I Freaked!. The storms were closer than I had thought. NWS just put warnings for Northern Buffalo County for super fast development of strong to potentially super severe, with large hail, and possible Tornadoes.
Photography Chance of a lifetime... Even though someone could cast me as a member of the Walking Dead....I was a trooper and I didn't wimp out! Luckily I had the my camera on the charger... Grabbed all my equipment & I hauled A** North... 20 mins later I found myself in the perfect spot, under the perfect conditions!
Cresting over northern Buffalo County, ready to cross between Pleasanton & Ravenna Nebraska, this cell was rapidly building and already had tornado warning on it. Incredible CG lightning in front of the storm cell was just to good to capture, with lighting firing off every few seconds.

Woodlands Waterfront is a coastal park that consists of a 1.5km long waterfront promenade, a 11-hectare park, a large multi-generational playground and a 400m ex-naval jetty that supports a variety of recreational activities and community events. It is also linked to Admiralty Park and a 25km Northern Explorer Park Connector Network.
The multi-generational playground boasts a wide range of exercise and play equipment that caters for both the young and old. The netted Sky Bridges and Sky Cabins which are two-storeys high will attract adventurous and energetic youths and adults. The elderly will find fitness equipment specially suited for their needs, and young children can enjoy the slides and swing equipment.
The 400m jetty is one of the longest coastal jetties in Singapore that offers visitors panoramic views of the park and the Straits of Johor.
If you are lucky, you can catch a glimpse of the white-bellied sea eagles and egrets flying low at the open waters to catch fishes.

I decided to bump up the colours in this one and add a frame. I made it back to my car just in time before the storm hit with full force.
this shot had a lot of noise and movement from the people . got rid of some of it but lost detail but i like the effect it gave . thanks for looking .
I like the feel of the 3d effects clouds give us through the dark clouds and the blue sky .... no HDR here just off the camera with a little tint added ... enjoy
This is a little bit of a different type of shot for me. I was there for a sun rise which was not that great but these mountains and the colors off of them really caught my attention, add to that the fog and it really drew my attention.

Hanna Lake (Urdu: حانا جھيل) is a lake near Quetta city in Pakistan and is one of the main attractions in the city. The lake is located a little short of the place where the Urak Valley begins and 10 km from Quetta. Golden fish in the lake comes swimming right up to the edge of the lake. There is a lakeside restaurant with picnic tables shaded by pine trees. At one end, the irrigation dam rises out of the depths like battlements of a fort. It is very attractive for holidaymakers, and is crowded with hikers and campers in the holidays.
The turquoise waters of the lake provide a rich contrast to the sandy brown of the hills in the background. One can promenade on the terraces or hire a boat and paddle on the lake and round the island in the middle. Wagon service operates from city bus station at Circular Road. The transport can be hired through the PTDC Tourist Information Centre, Muslim Hotel, Jinnah Road Quetta.
I was hanging out in a friend's front yard and the darkening clouds and occasional flashes of lightning caught my eye. Out came the Kodak Pocket Instamatic 40 to catch the scene... and here it is almost 50 years later.

Storms were to develop early afternoon but the dry line stalled. Late afternoon into mid evening the dry line pushed just to the west of our location.
With unusually humid conditions for this time of year in South Central Nebraska, this produced the perfect conditions for supercells to develop just to the southwest & west of Kearney Nebraska.
Rarely do we get to see the full development from nothing to a full fledged supercell and this one had fast development resulting in some of my best storm photography for 2012

Just over a century ago the first electric poles and lines were a modern marvel. Someday another generation will look upon these poles and wires and trappings up in the air as the remnants of a more primitive culture. In the meantime, I explore their visual interest.
I took the three photos on my way down to my local IGA store it looked pretty nasty. Thank goodnes I got back home in time before the heavens opened up The storm lasted two hours on and off with heavy rain and small hail. The Video I filmed was done 5 mins after I got back home talk about timing!
After a couple of days with very high temperatures [for us in the UK that is!] we now have the "joy" of some thunder, lightning & rain on the way. On the plus side it will hopefully cool things down a little although I don't really mind the heat and sunshine.
This shimmering view of interstellar gas and dust was captured by the European Space Agency’s Euclid space telescope. The nebula is part of a so-called dark cloud, named LDN 1641. It sits at about 1300 light-years from Earth, within a sprawling complex of dusty gas clouds where stars are being formed, in the constellation of Orion.
In visible light this region of the sky appears mostly dark, with few stars dotting what seems to be a primarily empty background. But, by imaging the cloud with the infrared eyes of its NISP instrument, Euclid reveals a multitude of stars shining through a tapestry of dust and gas.
This is because dust grains block visible light from stars behind them very efficiently but are much less effective at dimming near-infrared light.
The nebula is teeming with very young stars. Some of the objects embedded in the dusty surroundings spew out material – a sign of stars being formed. The outflows appear as magenta-coloured spots and coils when zooming into the image.
In the upper left, obstruction by dust diminishes and the view opens toward the more distant Universe with many galaxies lurking beyond the stars of our own galaxy.
Euclid observed this region of the sky in September 2023 to fine-tune its pointing ability. For the guiding tests, the operations team required a field of view where only a few stars would be detectable in visible light; this portion of LDN 1641 proved to be the most suitable area of the sky accessible to Euclid at the time.
The tests were successful and helped ensure that Euclid could point reliably and very precisely in the desired direction. This ability is key to delivering extremely sharp astronomical images of large patches of sky, at a fast pace. The data for this image, which is about 0.64 square degrees in size – or more than three times the area of the full Moon on the sky – were collected in just under five hours of observations.
Euclid is surveying the sky to create the most extensive 3D map of the extragalactic Universe ever made. Its main objective is to enable scientists to pin down the mysterious nature of dark matter and dark energy.
Yet the mission will also deliver a trove of observations of interesting regions in our galaxy, like this one, as well as countless detailed images of other galaxies, offering new avenues of investigation in many different fields of astronomy.
