Somewhere between Dayton Texas, and Amarillo Texas. I keep a daily log of where I start and odometer. I've done this since I began driving a semi in January of 2009. Sure helps when I can't remember where I was when I took a picture. My guess on this shot was Texas, but confirmed by checking my personal log.

I was going to level the horizon, but the utility poles are perfectly vertical, guess the earth really isn't flat.

A few hours before I had to work. Just enough time to get a few captures of this incoming severe warned thunderstorm.

I didn't have the best light, and these captures didn't come out the way I wanted. But I'm going to post a few anyways.

It was after sunset and night was cresting in. This severe storm was developing out in western Nebraska had moved into eastern Dawson County, and was now building strength and was entering western Buffalo county.

This storm had some incredible defined outflow. A sweet late May Nebraska shelf cloud.

Our first non severe thunderstorms of the 2016 season.

I've been itching to get out to capture some Nebraska stormscapes. I was totally satisfied with that afternoons storm front that passed through about 6:30pm.

Not bad for my first batch of storm captures 2016!

I Seriously, wasn't going to go out this night... Had a weeks worth of hell, and I really just wanted to do was get off work and go home. I was tired, I was cranky, it was the first weekend I've had off in a Month...

As soon as I pulled into the driveway @home, I could hear the weather radio going off and my storm capturing sensation came over me. Listening to the bullitins coming over the radio and I Freaked!. The storms were closer than I had thought. NWS just put warnings for Northern Buffalo County for super fast development of strong to potentially super severe, with large hail, and possible Tornadoes.

Photography Chance of a lifetime... Even though someone could cast me as a member of the Walking Dead....I was a trooper and I didn't wimp out! Luckily I had the my camera on the charger... Grabbed all my equipment & I hauled A** North... 20 mins later I found myself in the perfect spot, under the perfect conditions!

Cresting over northern Buffalo County, ready to cross between Pleasanton & Ravenna Nebraska, this cell was rapidly building and already had tornado warning on it. Incredible CG lightning in front of the storm cell was just to good to capture, with lighting firing off every few seconds.

Dark morning with heavy clouds and very windy. Great time for a walk and didn't get wet.

Here's one a bit different. It's a salt flat in the Eastern Sierras. I have it from another angle, which emphasizes the texture of the dried surface but I'm attracted to the clouds and the opening where the water, when there is any, exits the pond that forms in the rain.

The sun rises slowly, not in warmth but in pressure — a narrow seam of light forcing its way through a heavy sky.

The night lingers, unresolved, while the first glow holds its ground at the horizon. This is not a gentle beginning, but a necessary one. A reminder that some mornings arrive before the world is ready, and still insist on being seen.

Almost mid July in Nebraska. This means ... Boilermaker...

It was 102 when I left Kearney. Hot Humid and uncomfortable. But when storms come, I'm not going to miss these special photographic opportunities. You can always count me in with camera in hand.

Had a moderate threat for severe weather on this day to the south and east of South Central Nebraska. Knowing this, Hwy 6 east through Hastings and then South of Clay center was battle ground for storms to develop. I was in position, but this day would be a bust as the storms would cap and no strong development came out of these storm cells.

I took advantage of what light & storm there was.... and went to town. Click Click Click!

Sunset on a remote 4 wheel drive road deep in the park. I drove my jeep here and stayed the night. I set up a telescope in an old campsite about 10 feet from the road to watch the stars and an excellent production of the Perseid meteor showers.

Unfortunately at about 3am several baja-style racers came flying through here with their mega lightbars on high beam, and bathing me and my telescope in dust. lol.

The Hunter Moon, so called because it is the first full moon after the Harvest Moon in September. It signifies that it is time to hunt food for the winter. Usually occurs in mid to late October or early November.

This moon looks like it should be called the Halloween Moon as it rises through a nighttime cloud bank.
