A couple of bright patches of pale sunshine in the drizzle in the middle distance through brief breaks in a rather dramatic sky.

A fleeting patch of extraordinarily bright sunshine lights up the meadow in the foreground and produces this rainbow. Looking from Stable Edge towards Ettersgill which is becoming obscured as the next hefty squall approaches.

Patchy sunshine and shadows on Marshes Gill Farm, Harwood. A meadow full of flowering buttercups in front of the farmhouse is lit nicely but dark clouds threaten heavy showers to come.

May 3, 2012 - Kearney Nebraska US

Storms were to develop early afternoon but the dry line stalled. Late afternoon into mid evening the dry line pushed just to the west of our location.

With unusually humid conditions for this time of year in South Central Nebraska, this produced the perfect conditions for supercells to develop just to the southwest & west of Kearney Nebraska.

Rarely do we get to see the full development from nothing to a full fledged supercell and this one had fast development resulting in some of my best storm photography for 2012

Lhasa and the Tibet Autonomous Region

Lhasa and the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) was closed this year from late February until early April to all foreign travelers. When the area reopened, the Tibet Tourism Bureau required all foreigners to travel in a small group of at least 4 or 5 people and all the people had to be from the same country. There were a lot of rumors out of Lhasa that this rule would be relaxed in early May and that travel regulations would return to normal, which would allow solo travelers as well as those in groups of mixed nationalities to apply for travel permits. However, these strict rules are still in effect.

a sundown under some huge dark clouds. i am not sure but i think the blue light on the right might be a lightning inside the clouds. all in all, i love this picture, it's so beautiful.
