Finally my bleeding hearts are here .... Pushing their way up through the undergrowth towards the morning light was truly worth, getting out my camera!
first time hiking this trail in the woods - HTMT!
During the pandemic, my sister and her husband have been on a hunt to find MD's biggest/tallest trees (using a list put out by the state). Several ones listed are in Garrett County, and they were able to check many off their list. This Black Cherry in Herrington Manor was one of them.
We bought this lovely sculpture quite a few years ago on one of our trips to Canberra. Alas the antique shop has long gone.
I knew that I would post my last pick on May 18th when I took it and I did a lot of research for the days leading up to SH's explosion and seeing all that beauty blasted away in seconds reminds of how glad I am to be living here in this time while Rainier is in it's prime. Breathtaking beauty everywhere you look and sometimes you don't have to look too hard, just wait for the light. :-) Absolutely must be viewed large, that means you too Franky! :-)
I THINK that I caught up with everyone after having been gone for days, if not let me know.
....sheep in a field in the South Downs National Park - gently rolling hills, trees budding in new green leaf, and sunshine
thank you for all visits, faves and comments, much appreciated
Not a lot of sun today but I managed to catch a bit behind a Globe Artichoke...it must have been at least 8ft tall!
On the return from a walk up the southern Scottish mountain ' the Merrick' the light gave this picture.

Sony A7R/ Canon Serenar 35 mm/f3.5Retro analogue RFCanon lens from the 1950's on a state of the art Sony A7R, a beautiful soft focus look with a natural colour rendering.
Walking the trail in Acadia NP, Nothing but fresh woodsy air and dappled light. My 180 macro lens is an excellent short telephoto. Helicon focus, 4 images stacked
I took this from the top of the Sass Pordoi ( 2950 metres above sea level ) which is part of the Sella Massif group of mountains in the Dolomites, the little town in the distance is Colfosco. The dappled light on the rocks , scree and snow was created by the clouds moving slowly in the light wind.

Although a non-native, azaleas provide a beautiful show at our Hunter Region Botanic Gardens.
This shrub, together with many related companions, were in a shady glade and I was taken by the contrast of the bright white blooms against the darker foliage and dappled light.

Another shot of café life in the beautiful village of Tourtour. The dappled light in the centre of the village never fails to please the eye
Pleasure is Nature's test, her sign of approval. When man is happy, he is in harmony with himself and his environment. ~ Oscar Wilde
Every time I think...no more...i see another tree hanging on in there and the temptation is too great. Shot with the Fuji XT1 and the trioplan 2.8 100mm.
Yet another of my shots of Norsworthy Bridge (near Burrator Reservoir). I can't resist shooting it whenever I'm that way!
I've reduced the clarity in post-processing, to give a softer look.
The days are shortening and darkening but the colours are intensifying...I think this is natures way of compensating us ;-)) Another shot using the Helios 44M
Morning sunlight through a Magnolia x soulangiana (Saucer Magnolia); a very fragrant experience. Spring has arrived early, but the forecast is for snow in a few days.
I was have a good wander around the forest, you know it’s good when you get yourself lost. As for photography, it was not looking . Walking through an overgrow trail (which I could never find again) and looking very dark on my flanks, I spied this little scene of dappled light.
EXPLORE 286 ...... many thanks :) :)
Your journey has molded you for the greater good, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Don't think that you've lost time. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time ~ Asha Tyson
Canola still blooming in places. Most I’ve ever seen on the Palouse. There’s so much of it you get a little desensitized. Otherwise it’s been an amazing year for our crops.
When i was grovelling in the woods over a week ago for my first Bluebell shot of the season I have to admit age and some limitations didn't help but I do love vintage bokeh though was finding it extra difficult.. Jonathan bought this lens for my birthday which incidentally is today, because I had looked at many reviews and thought the auto focus might help in this new lens, length 135mm f/1.8.. It was ordered one day and delivered the next and in time for me to test that is was fine. So the other day when i went the first of two short walks. I was able with the Sony A7RM3 to auto focus on the flower I wished, I then had the facility to override the auto focus using manual focus DMF in the camera settings and also bought up the focus magnifier to tweak where I wanted it sharp. It definitely is not vintage but I personally still loved the painterly bokeh I was able to get but with a little help initially from the auto focus ability of the lens. The new lens is a Samyang 135mm f1.8 and I will hopefully get some portrait shots too which is one of its main strengths but I don’t use any lens conventionally tbh….
